Today, I rode a Harley

Captain America was riding a Harley (of course he would, what a BMW?) but I actually thought it was annoying he was doing so in NY, without a helmet. NY being a helmet required state. So Cap is a law breaker. Who next, Iron Man?

All I know is the Terminator rode a Harley. That was the coolest hero on a Harley. Motorcycle for that matter.

Put in an 1887 lever shotgun & that was pure awesomeness

Reprogrammed to save the General who would lead the greatest battle of all humanity :)
But yeh, he's not what everyone perceive as a hero.

The terminator that rode a harley was there to save humanity, I think you got your terminators mixed up.

Batman was the most retarded superhero of all tmes. Lol

But the really cool Terminator (CSM-101) rode a 1974 Honda CB750 Four.

In my opinion the only problem is the price when it comes to Harley's.

The prices have mostly stabilized. Jap bikes are similar in price now. What bothers me is the number of these wonderful Harleys always for sale on Kijiji or in the Trader.

Sensible shoes. Engineering is not styling.

As soon as engines were invented somebody put one in a bicycle. And for many decades afterward the motorized bicycles' evolution concentrated on engineering to build a better performing product. Then some cool kids re-engineered them into useless rolling art. A "B" movie industry was built around these abortions. This provided a template for a lifestyle option. The factories took note and built factory "customs" which always performed less than the bikes they were based on. What's not to like?

So you're saying you take issue with cruisers in general? They're much more to the 'roots' of motorcycling than any sport bike...

I have a friend who is die-hard Harley, all he's ever ridden. He tells me only to buy post 2006, that's when they became more reliable (according to him). As usual, I don't care, just "run what ya brung". Anybody into Harley's should definitely take a ride on a Victory, way better bikes(IMO), and still American iron.

Edit: I shouldn't say a Victory is a better bike, I should say I liked the victory more. The 1730cc engine is a gem, makes huge torque, and pulls from idle like nothing. The Kingpin(model I rode), has very light/responsive steering, great brakes, and runs at 2100 rpms at 120km/h in sixth. Hands down best cruiser I've been on. Oh, and it does make you feel pretty badass... ;)

I don't take issue with inanimate objects in general. I'm more a student of the back story and all I have on offer is opinions.

Some really...and I do mean really strange replies in this thread. I wouldn't describe myself as being huge into cruisers, though I can most definitely appreciate them and respect them for being bikes that appeal to riders looking for less speed and more comfort. Or who are just simply not into the sport bike experience. What I do NOT and I repeat DO NOT understand is people who say that Harleys ARE the best cruisers. That is a joke. AN absolute joke. Go see these "criminals" these "hardcore" cruiser types... And they aren't and don't ride Harleys. Harleys aren't the be all and end all. Custom bikes, small shops, etc is what the more hardcore like. They hate the typical Harley that every middle aged guy could or does own.

Beyond that, as a mass produced bike, again to claim Harleys are the best.. Is comical. They are NO where near as reliable as many other cruisers. Why do people support anything that is unreliable compared to the competition. Because its american? Well then grab your hunting rifle and pick up and move down to the deep south with other like minded "folk"... Companies that DESERVE customers to praise them like a religion are companies that come out with a consistently improving product at a good price for what they are offering... Are Harleys overpriced? Most would say yes. But what is funny is how unreliable they are. How expensive they can be to repair... Etc. How if you ripped those badges off a Harley and off a bunch of other cruisers and had guys specifically into cruisers try them all out, even for months or years... I bet none would choose the Harley... Or very few at least. I remember talking to a tow truck driver buddy. Hell of a nice guy. Mid 40s. Definitely looked like your biker type. Anyways point being he's ridden all his life. Owned countless Harleys.. And a few years back bought a kawi cruiser (Vulcan? If memory serves me right). And he said it is netter in every way then the Harley. Now one mans opinion or course. Who knows. But the funny part is he said he doesn't like taking the kawi out with group rides, or with buddies, or to bike shows, because people judge him off it compared to the Harley.

To that I say you grown 40's men... What is wrong with you. Grow up. If you life the cruising lifestyle that's the "lifestyle"... Don't mistake " cruiser" and the lifestyle with being a "Harley" lifestyle. It isn't. You aren't in some special crowd. You are one of the many who chose to overlook better bikes at lower price points so you can feel special. I'm sure their are exceptions. But most of the time that is the case... Don't fool yourself. You are no different then that guy rolling around in his range rover... Or his hundred thousand dollar car thinking he's the sh*t, the difference lies in that at least that ********* actually got something a bit more for his money. Wether performance, or luxury, at very least that vehicle came with many things that set it apart from a vehicle that although nice is half the price... All you got were badges reading Harley Davidson.
