Tmp thurs may 2

I'll just run 1/4 tank of gas instead of a half tank, and we should be all even. A lot easier than that whole weight loss thing. If you see a CBR out of gas in turn 2, at least wave and say hi.

LOL... I still have my horn on the bike for those occasions :)

Yeah I know what you mean. The bend of some aftermarket levers makes it get too tight to the bar and if you're two finger braking it hits your knuckles of the two fingers still on the bar?

You could cheat and get a slipper clutch. Seems to be all the rage among the track day heroes LOL... j/k Blipping is a good skill to learn.

Yes it hits my knuckles :(
I will practice on the blip. Using my palm to blip maybe. When I do try to blip, I notice I tug back and forth the the brake lever, causing jerky braking wich is the worst. And practicing that at over 200 going into turn 1 or 2 sucks lol but that's pretty much just wear I'm shifting on the beast of the R1

yeah and if you're hand position slips you'll be all screwed up on the throttle mid-corner. Annoying...

Those of you with a 1000, what gear ratio do you run at TMP? Actually, how much +/- on front and back from your stock?

Last season with -1 front / 0 rear, I found out I upshift only on the two straights, and the rest of the track goes in 2nd gear all the way. I want to practice my blipping a bit more, so I have -1 front / +3 rear now, but I wonder if that's too excessive...

Of course, I'll see tomorrow, and if I'm not smooth enough in the turns and manage to keep it before high-siding, I'll switch back to 0 in the rear (I'll have the sprocket with me).

Pretty sure I have just +1in the rear, I'm cruising in 2nd the whole time except for the 2 straights. On my old R6 I had - 1/+2 and it was a huge difference in acceleration. +3 in the back I think would be Ok, just never drop it in 1sr by accident or else it will be a wheelie machine.

With -1/+3, it felt like a wheelie machine even in 2nd at low RPM (around the block)---crack open and the front came up, RPM was low, like 4-5k or so... i'm beginning to think the -1/+3 is a recipe for disaster (in my hands)..

If it's lifting in 2nd without any troubles then yes I would drop a tooth. I know my front comes up at tmp (just before the quick chicane that really isn't a chicane lol pretty much straight through) but my front does come up in 2nd and that's just with ±2 in the back or +1 I can't remember lol (all the work was done by Teal and I left it at what he has done to it that's why I'm a dumb ***).... But yea +3 I wouldn't feel comfortable imo

Hmm... just +1 in the rear isn't much different than stock gearing. For reference, dropping a tooth in the front equals approximately to adding 3 teeth in the rear, so my -1/+3 is roughly the same as if I had -2/0 or 0/+6.

I normally run -1 +1 but I put the stock front on for njmp and think I left the -1 at the track, so tomorrow ill be on stock front and plus 1
plus 3 on the back is excessive.
corsara, be nice to see ya again tomorrow...been a while.

Don't crack the throttle and feed the gas on smoothly, it won't wheelie as much and will save your tires. Smooth is fast.

I would have given you a front with 16 teeth that came off of a 05 Yamaha FZ6 (maybe compatible with your R1?), but it's for a 530 pitch and I know you run 520. See you tomorrow!

was -1/+1 last year, you really have to be smooth in 2nd gear, but found I was only getting to mid 5th gear by the end of the front straight, so I went with -1/+2 this year for TMP/GBM, but probably still use -1/+1 at SMP.

TMP is so short for a 1000, if you really wanted to practice your blipping you'd need a -2/+5 ;)

Radiator flushed (water wetter)
Mirrors removed
Light fuse removed
Lights and blinkers taped
Pressures lowered to 32(maybe lower, see how she feels)

I should probably change the oil....

First track day of 2013 woohoo!

leave the tire pressure up and wait to set it right before you go out, easier to take air out than put it in if you don't carry a compressor.

I have an air compressor, small, but works. Anyone needs some, just stop by. Blue canopy, red R1, red stands

hey Toys for boys, are you coming tomorrow? Did you have a chance to test your GPS lap timer? If yes, where do you set the start point, so it won't trigger a lap everytime you pass by the start in the pit lanes? I'm seeing big cloud, thinking about setting it at the visible line in the middle of the straight: http://goo.gl/maps/x2eCS
