TMP Saturday July 13

Next weekend is the motorcycle weekend so both saturday and sunday are strictly motorcycle on the road course. But I agree with you, rotating the cars and bikes on future Sat and Sun may make sense, let me look into it. In the meantime lets do this, next Sunday when if you come for the road course we'll get your bikes tech'd for the drag strip as well and you can all run a few passes down the 1/4 in the test & Tune group if your interested.

Here's another man's perspective:

Saturdays: getting physically exerted at the track (or crashing)
Sundays: recovering
Mondays: back to work

I'd think more riders work regular business week: Mon - Fri. Also bikers get much more tired on a lapping day than car drivers, hence the Sunday to recover.

That said, I like taking Thursdays off work to go to the track. Weekends are for family.

Fair enough but some sort of rotation will benefit some of us tues-sat guys. How my work is, it's very hard to book off days in the summer. And I have low seniority.

Ditto this. All 3 track days I have done this year were on Mondays. My workweek ends Saturday noonish after a 10-14 hour shift. I'm going to attempt TMP on the 21st. Get home Saturday, bed 2-3 p.m., wake 2-3 a.m. (note time of this post), load up and head to the track @ 5:30 a.m.

So how was it today? Hope good, the weather seemed nice.

Perfect weather. Hot with a breeze.

Gixxer did well for its first time on the track until I cooked the front pads and rotors. I have to check my goPro and see what I was running before it happened but, for the first time, I was dragging knee all over the place
GPAs and Warmers are amazing!

Mike did great ! I ended up his pit *****, his bleeder screw was leaking in the afternoon and was loosing brakes

I'm glad the Gixxer is working out well for him! I wonder how it compares performance-wise to his Ducati SF. Obviously for the track, the handling of the Gix would be better, but I wonder how he finds the power of the 750 vs the v-twin monstrocity.

but consistency always wins

It took me awhile to go through pics and video, ill try and get some video up this week.

Fastest lap before front brake failure/issue was 1:28, did a 1:29 and then a tonne of 1:30s. Interesting part is that after front brakes issue I was still running a 1:30/1:31 in afternoon. So I'm thinking if I didn't have the brake issue I would have been down to 1:26ish.
Which is 6-8 seconds faster than I was on the SF1098.

Baby steps though. This time I got the knee down all over the place and really got a feeling for turns 1,2 &3 but not consistent on rest of track.

Test- quote is working...

As for Duc vs gixxer.
The Streetfighter was the best "streetbike" ever. And it was so rewarding to ride on the street 90lbs of torque made doing 30kph fun. But on the track you really had to muscle it and body position was between a supermoto and a SBK. And 90lbs o torque scared me a bit so I never really put the power down around corners. And it was so ******* beautiful I never took it to the edge for fear of dumping it.

The gixxer on the other hand is boring on the street. And I find the sound of an I-4 annoying on the street.
But on the track, its so flickable, proper body position, larger rpm range to play in(need to change gearing for TMP though) and I don't care if I dump it.

Obviously I miss the Brembos from the SF and the stock gixxer brakes couldn't handle stopping my fat ass(I brake hard and late)

Suspension on the gixxer is not meant for 220lbs. A little scary actually. Bottoming out front as soon as I touched the brakes and bottomed out rear under aggressive power.

More $$ for upgrades required. Lol

Great job man! Looking at the pics you posted with my unprofessional eye, seems like you've got lot's more tire left for much more lean angle and corner speed, so maybe that's where you can dramatically improve your times if your lines and braking are already good. You're very tall, and body position looks good to me (others confirm), so maybe tuck in the knee a bit to get it out of the way. Above all, remember I'm a beginner too, so take everything I say with a grain of salt!! :)

My best most comfortable corner was 2,3. I wish I had pictures from there.
I was having trouble all day on 11,12 with the line and I was not going fast enough through 10,11,12(very apparent on video) but its the only place to get a good pic.
Its funny that 2,3 was most comfortable but 11,12 I had trouble considering they are very similar.
