Tire installation

Also make sure the shop has someone who knows what they're doing and won't scratch or dent your rims. Also make sure they have a proper tire balancer. You can also save a ton by buying your tires online and bringing them in just for the labor.

I always try to buy my own parts. That way I know I'm getting genuine OEM parts and not after-market. Same with oil, brake fluid, coolant etc. You ask for a specific type, but who knows what they actually put in... at least if I bring it myself, I'll have some peace of mind I'm getting what I'm paying for. I'm sure some shops are honest, others deserve the name "steal-erships"

Installing your own tire is a very satisfying experience, once it is on there and working, don't you think so?
Just don't do it with kids around, because you won't want them to hear you say $on*!@&#^k*%@b*)^%#dd*^@)*$*^%&#@(&%*$r get on there!

Last set I had done was $75 a tire on the bike. Also very good price on tires. Tripps Cycle in Oakville

I bought one of these a while ago... It's almost paid for itself in money saved on tire mounting. It's more than paid for itself in the convenience of NOT having pull wheels and bring them to a shop.

Paired with a static balancer and a selection of wheel weights... Changing tires is a pleasant way to spend a rainy afternoon in the garage.

There you go there's a hack who can mount your tires for you ;)

Where did you get that?

Just did mine this past wkd.
Took tire and rim off bike (together) to Zdeno in Kitchener.
She mounted new tire on rim and added beads.
$30 per wheel

I tried it one time because i was given a free sample. Pia to get the beads in. Balance was fine. Wheel weights do the same exact thing.

The technology seems dodgy at best.
The only real dodgy side is that it always starts out and remains in a state of significant imbalance, until you get things spinning fast enough. Biggest plus is it 100% self adjusts at higher speed where the balance matters more.

I'm not even sure it does that?
All I can see happening is that they all line up in a row around the inner perimeter of the tire and disguise and imbalance rather than fixing it.
