Tinted/smoked visors at night?

Dark smoke visor + unlit road = asking for a trouble

^+1 common sense dictates you shouldn't wear a tinted visor once the sun goes down. Be safe people. If your first name is Corey, then I guess it's OK though.

all scorpion line mirrored visors are light smoke. Been riding for years with a mirrored visor day night whatever. Tinting really helps the with oncoming headlights. The notion that it's unsafe is within the eye of the beholder. ride with comfortability and safety. HID's help too (6000k).

Ride safe all!

Try that in a thunderstorm! All I could see was 2 spots of red from the car a few m in front of me and let him guide me down the highway. Not fun.

You can also carry clear safety glasses in the trunk of your bike as a back-up, in case you get caught past sun-down. Works well enough below 100 km/h.

Honestly, I don't find it all that bad - but it's really hard to see road imperfections.

This.

But if you're riding on very familiar roads (as in you ride them almost daily) there shouldn't be a huge problem. Especially in a city.

If you go out into the unlit backroads it's really hard to see with stock lights. I was following someone who had HIDs in, at night, with my mirrored visor, and the HID lights made things easier to see compared to my stock light.

I know a guy named Corey who rides but he don't wear his sunglasses at night.

I wear my tinted visor when I do evening rides and I see just fine through it when riding downtown. I lift the visor up if the section of the road that I am coming to is not well lit, and I don't travel fast enough for the wind to bother me.

I agree with this...my tint never comes off and it's not too bad once you get used to it. But I won't ride country at night with it on, just switch helmets!

x2 ^^^. Tinted is fine on city streets illuminated by street lights, your headlighhts and other vehicles headlights.

Riding in the country is a different story and isn't so good.

From my experience, light smoke visor for Shoei RF-1000 was fairly dark, but was surprisingly ok for riding on the night highway (pretty well lit). New "mellow smoke" for RF-1100 is very lightly smoked, so easy to ride around city at night, but RF-1100 dark smoke - well, that's really dark, only decent on well-lit highways. I wouldn't try to ride in the country in any of those visors though. Rode with "mellow smoke" through unlit Muskoka in the evening, it was ok, but not the most comfortable ride.

I'm pretty new rider and I got used to the dark visor on my Icon Alliance pretty quickly. At first it's way too dark, I was on 401 and had to keep my visor open cuz I was freaking out. Got off the ramp and teared like a baby for a good minute. But then two weeks later I kept forgetting to switch visors and then decided to abandon idea all together. Yes, it's illegal, but so is breaking the speed limit...
This is city riding of course, county roads i just ride with a group and they have clear visors :D

I have an Icon Variant/Gold visor and I wear that day n night, I can see out of it just fine. Only time I have to lift it though is when I want to go through a dirt trail where there is 0 lighting.
