Time for a new lid.
I'm a Shoei fan-boy so I'll be stickin' with the brand...

'Been through a couple of their GT-Air models and really... I'd buy another, but... 'Been thinking about going "modular" with their Neotec.
Who's gone from full face to flip up modular... 'Happy with your choice..?

I'm thinkin' flip up might be noice for those 40 degree days riding across the prairies as well as for those rides I go on with a buddy when I want to communicate at a stop light without having to yell... "I GOTTA STOP FOR A PISS!" (I'm not a "comms" guy so not Cardo pour moi.)

Any input is appreciated albeit uncompensated for... Get a job. :)

Love it. Quickly lift to talk, drink, cool off. Leave it up during Motogymkhana, parking, stop and go traffic. Also much easier to put it on while keeping hair out of my face.

I went from an Icon Alliance to a Scorpion GT920.

In the down position, it's a bit louder but has a lot of airflow (leaks). Might not be the case in the fancy Showy lineup.

I'll be sticking with modular going forward, but I wouldn't use it on a track day. At least not my $200 DOT modular.

Love my modular. Got it for free from my buddy that gave up riding and I’ve found myself going to it for every shorter ride.

Long rides out of the city I’m all in with the full face. Anything within city is modular. Actually love riding with it up, maybe up to 40-50kph before it starts pull the head back.

I currently have 3 lids in rotation - a modular, an ADV and a full-face.
They each have their uses, and by mixing them up I figure I'm extending the life span of all 3.

I have 3 too.

My SHOEI RF 1100 is comfortable but puts a lot of pressure on the cheeks if you have a round face due to it's narrow design. Ventilation isn't all that great.

My Shark Transformer is really comfortable, it's modular with a flip-up that can be removed to be a 3/4. I like this one for ATV and around town. The down sides: the chrome has bubbled off the plastic trim, and the rear trim band has been replaced twice, and the pull-down visor won't clear eyeglasses if you wear them. Super comfortable, has an internal air bladder/pump to snug the fit.

My last is a Schuberth C3. I ticks all the boxes. Super quiet, wide field of vision, pinlock shades, sunshade clears glasses, comfortable. The only downside is the area where helmet speakers are fixed is narrow, speakers will touch your ears. This is my goto, The only thing I'd change is the color -- I got a hi-vis white/orange model, and I don't ride a KTM.

Just joined the mod club as well. needed a new lid and got the AGV sportmodular during winter sales. I'm a pansy so haven't had a chance to ride with it yet.

interesting a lot of you ride with the chinbar up in traffic, I was thinking more just at stops. Most vehicle collisions are in the city at slower speeds, i shudder thinking about bare chin on pavement after knocked off the bike.

I love modular after too many years in a Bell star.
I'd been eyeing the Shark Evoline 3 for a while and pulled the trigger. Very pleased.
Fully certified as bothe 3/4 and FF.
Shark Evoline 3 ST Helmet (XS) | 48% ($150.01) Off! - RevZilla
Nothing up in the wind.when used as 3/4

Looks like a normal FF when closed.

My LS2 Valiant is a modular and can be used as a 3/4. Decent helmet for the price, paid $300 at GP for it last year.

The Neotect is a lightweight modular that scores well in the SHARP testing, including does the modular latch actually stay closed in an accident.

When you're buying any helmet, in particular a modular but aware that some, including the LS2 and Nolan, require proprietary communicators that are usually much more expensive than a universal one. The Neotect design allow you to use a non proprietary communicator.

I used a Shoei Neotec and then a Schuberth C3 Pro for many years and liked them both. I never rode with them flipped up but loved the convenience when stopped and the flip down sunscreen on the Schuberth. Modulars are inherently heavier and can be hard on the neck, even more so if you're riding flipped up. On the C3 Pro I had an occasional problem with it not latching fully closed every time so had to be extra careful with that and it introduced a little uncertainty for me if an accident were to happen. Eventually my arthritic neck forced me to shop for something very light, the AGV K6 which I'm very happy with and feeling very secure. Also the ultimate convenience of a bike with electrically adjustable windscreen. I do miss that flip down sun screen though.

K6 club ftw!

Swapping visors isn’t time consuming, but it’s definitely handy.

It looks like there are modular helmets out now that are lighter or same weight as the full face GT-Air2, so that is great to see. If you are open to try on something besides Shoei, the first one I would check out is the AGV Sport Modular Carbon:
vs. the Neotec:

I'm not sure if there is a more up-to-date listing, but this one from a few years ago compares various models by weight: Motorcycle Helmet Weight Comparisons (272 Helmets Compared!)

and I find the reviews on WebbBike World to overall be pretty good: Best Modular Helmets [2022 Edition]

My vote would be to go with the Neotec without the helmet comms unit. Or stick with the GTAir2, which is a great helmet in it's own right.

this helmet is badass but only problem is the weight. tried one on and could not do it.

my Sportmodular is lighter or as light as the RF1200 it replaces.

Yep, my wife's Schuberth C4 Pro had pre-wired speakers and microphone, which plug-and-played directly with the proprietary Schuberth Comms system. That unit was an additional cost item, and not as up-to-date as aftermarket comms.

Took some work to remove the speakers and microphone and put it an aftermarket Sena. Not impossible to do, but just additional work. Also, a waste of the OEM speakers, mic and wiring...

The Evoline 3 is 3.74 lb. My C3 is 3.8.

The AGV is a lb lighter and 3 times the price.
you may be surprised how much a lb adds up over a full day of riding.

People who lift my AGV K6 are shocked by the weight savings, has convinced more then 1 to pick one up over other attributes the helmet may lack.

Mine was also 60k km in Aus over two bikes and $299 and this one just a bit more.
.05 per km and I stil maintain that helmets are over priced across the board and the marketing to replace every three years a joke.
Guy that bought my 10 year old RJays was happy as a clam at $40. Inside was worn a bit but perfectly safe. I just wanted the sunshade and the slick 3/4 system as I wore the Rjays up a lot...I photograph and prefer either 3/4 or modular.
On occasion I like the weather protection the full cover provides but the RJays was traditional flip up and caught a lot of wind.
You can't go over 100 kph here without risking ruinous fines so less of an issue than at 130+

I used to wear a Bell 3/4 and that was the quietest helmet....the Shark is decent too ....the C3 quieter but too hot for the tropics...terrific cool weather helmet.

The Bell open face was also very light at 2.8 lb for obvious reasons. I'm not touring - most days are 3-6 hours and if anything would bother me it was the flip up in the wind...that solves that issue and other things ache more at 74 than my neck. 🧓

Off to ride, 25 degrees and sun just up ...looking good.
Only 19 at Ravenshoe...better wear a layer.
