Throttle lock recommendation

I've always used one of these:

They're about $10-$12 and can be found at just about any motorcycle shop (Parker Bros, Z1, GP Bikes, etc).

I got it mainly for my carpal tunnel, and simply can't ride longer distances without it.

+1 for the cramp buster. As for a recommendation on a throttle lock - DON'T!

I like both cramp buster and go cruise - I think they are great and I use both of them for long trips.
Word of caution:
cramp buster - take it slow and get used to it. If positioned too high - u will experience sudden urges of acceleration as all it will take is gentle push to get your bike flying
go cruise - if u are going uphill/downhill your speed will not remain steady, just keep that in mind

Not that I've used either but it seems to me that the go cruise would be safer than the cramp buster. The cramp buster looks like you could easily bump it or get hung up on it while getting used to it. With the go cruise the grip works exactly as it would stock because there is very little friction. I dunno.....

so you would rather I drive with numb right hand .......hardly rational.
The throttle is easily moved on any cruise control/throttle lock I've used. How's your experience??? none??

I have the Photon. I got it before I rode 10,000 kms in 9 days thinking I'd need it. I found after one day it was not worth the space it took on the grip, for me.

I think the design is simple and good. Easy to engage and disengage and not a safety hazard, IMO. On the S1000RR which has a stiff throttle spring it was difficult for the Photon to hold speed also.

But, for me, it wasn't worth it and I took it off after half a day. I never felt the need to re-install even doing 10 and 12 hour days in the saddle. If my right hand got feeling a bit cramped I just pull in the clutch, take my right hand off the grip and give it a shake for a couple of seconds, twist the grip and let the clutch out and be good for another hour or so.

I find it slightly more unsettling to use a throttle lock on a bike than cruise control on a car. With a car, you touch the brakes or clutch and the system disengages. With a bike you need to twist the throttle closed to disengage. Not a big deal, but big enough to make it more awkward for me.

Oh, another thing about this. It seems to me that many people have a death grip on their grips. For some people, maybe relaxing a bit and easing up would make hand cramping less of an issue.

My hand just rests on the grip with enough force to keep the throttle open.

The BrakeAway does just that but I found it hard to engage. The Kaoka works easily, looks good and I can set the friction level easily with one hand.

Very nice to have both hands free to eat my lunch :D

I use this as well but after a time it slips too easily - a slice of bicycle tube stretched over the bar and then under the palm throttle grips really well. I had one with velcro that I think worked better but not quite so easy to adjust.

Just bought a rocker and installed it. The on i have came with a little rubber tube to slide on. It works tones better than without. Looking forward to using it.

Get the pricier version with the Velcro friction strap. Much easier to put on and it stays put and doesn't slide. It's only a few bucks more. I've had both and the Velcro strap one is the only one I use now.

Yeah I regretted leaving mine on the bike I sold....or maybe I traded it but I do think the velcro is the better bet.

regarding the pinching type ones, doesn't the vibration from the handle bar losen it once it is engaged?

The photon one I have does loosen a little over time.
It's easy enough to pick up speed and relock it again if you want to increase speed.
I give them a 9 out of 10 for ease of use and job well done.
