This character followed me home…

I used mine recently to change the rear tire on my Triumph but it's over 700 lbs and the higher weight helps but yeah ideally you'd want a way to support the opposite side you're working on or have a solution like sburns did.

I have the same one as sburns posted (the larger one) and it's come in handy for working on the ATV, rider mower, and lifted my 800lb Victory motorcycle just fine as well.

Bike came with a tail rack which I plan on putting a GIVI hard luggage on. However, I noticed that the way the rack sits it effectively hides the brake light completely when the car behind me is close. Not sure how far away, but you can’t see the light from about 5-10ft standing up.

Thoughts on resolution? I’m tempted to rip off the rack and just keep the side luggage for visibility’s sake.

im wondering if they are that close behind you, even without the top rack, they probably cant see the brake light?

10 ft away standing up is pretty tall. That is higher than a pickup and damn close. Having another vehicle within 10' of me when moving is red alert in my brain. If stopped at a light they may get that close but I'm not as worried in that situation.

I may try an add an another light at the very back but I wouldnt be too concerned about what you have.

I've got a couple of hard top boxes if you're looking at purchasing one

Thanks. Maybe I’m overthinking it.

I should get my wife to get in the car and drive me to let me know how it actually looks.

Thanks I’ve got at least 2 laying around here. Only type I may consider is one with a brake light kit on it.

How hard would it be to stick a light or led strips on the top box and splice into your tail/brake light? maybe add a little plug so that you can remove it easily

There are easily available two pin connectors (look like half of a trailer flat four) that could be perfect for that. If I was doing that, I would probably use a flat-4 and run 12V to the trunk. Charge stuff on the go. Brake/Taillight/12V/ground.

Good call. USB port or two inside the luggage definitely if going through the effort to get wires there.

If in doubt, park the bike running in front of your house and then drive up behind it in your car to see what it actually looks like from behind the wheel?

Even though he is in a nice neighbourhood, I wouldn't leave a running bike anywhere. He just needs the lights on. Still probably needs the key in but a parked bike attracts less attention than one that sounds good with a loud exhaust.

Good idea. Maybe my wife will be able to hop on it and just hold the brakes while I’m in the car.

I’d prefer the bike upright instead of leaning to see the lights.

That’s a great idea. But I’m useless in wiring and splicing into existing wiring harness.
