He's not wrong. The FT500 was a much better motorcycle.

The VT500 Ascot was sister to the Shadow, the FT500 Ascot was sister to the XL500 - apples and oranges.
None of the above were what you would call earth shattering but definitely not the worst of the era.

It's alright! Ryan does make a lot of good points. I don't always agree with him (I really don't know about the helmet CO2 video) but I like that he drags some of the esoteric stuff into the light (problems with Snell)
I like it. I enjoy the humor he injects and plenty of the info is good. His opinion pieces are well presented whether you agree or disagree and it's a very professionally done.
It's one of the VERY few YT channels (?) that I look at and don't regret wasting the time afterwards.
Edit: I just watched the video and it checks all the above boxes for me. No I'm going back outside to enjoy a beautiful day.

Enjoyable and well thought out.
I specifically liked how the went back and retested the goretex gloves after people questioned their methodology.
Is it the pinnacle of science, no. Is it a good grass roots investigation, I think so.

I had a 1984 VT500 and loved it. I was a teenager and it was my second bike - and it was way cooler than my Yamaha 400 Heritage Special, so I was happy. Could I ride one now and still feel the same about it? Highly improbable.

I really enjoy Fortnine vids - find them entertaining... Wife likes them too...
One of my pet peeves with some moto / clickbait YT vids are those extremely exaggerated faces / expressions e.g. deep in thought when comparing two bikes, or shocked face to suggest that something utterly unbelievable has just happened, etc... Don't know what it is, maybe just the gross exaggeration / overreaction irks me... Hope that trend ends lol...

If you are trying to do Youtube fulltime, you have to bow to the algorithm.
Right now, it favors these stupid face thumbnails.
