"Need a second vehicle so selling my baby. Purchased in July of 2016. Since owner ship I have done all maintenance myself (oil, air filter, spark plugs) I have only put roughly 4000kms myself. Bike will need a new light switch as I've had to hardwire it so lights will stay on. Also could do with new seats or rewrap them. Will also need new brake pads for safety. It also has a D&D exhaust. Other then the issues I've mentioned bike runs great. It has been sitting since July of last year ridding only a few times. Properly stored with stabilizer and sea foam to keep moister out of the gas tank. I also did an oil change since putting it away. Always garage stored. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. Also I am a motivated seller as I've found a car id like to purchase. Looking for 2000.00 or best offer. I also have a few sets of gear as well. Multiple helmets gloves and jackets and also an icon vest."

I would search out a replacement oem used stock seat(s). At any price this will be a hard sell with that seat.. replace the pads/switch and get it certified; repost the bike for sale askin $2400 cert. Parts shouldn't be that hard to find on kijiji and if the parts seller has good used pads/switch/seats - get all the parts you need for a package price? even if it takes a month or two to find good parts...it will then be prime bike selling season.

nice seat work! too bad about the colour. I don't know how well your seats would come out recovered - they already have been re-covered and well...they already look kinda lumby lol. no offense intended, but I would have been looking for an oem used seat the from the day I bought the bike...
EDIT
dang those $135 seats are nice work. worth every penny imo. but will limit potential buyers. as for recovering seats yourself? Your recovered seats are kinda poster children for why I wouldn't attempt this myself. OEM used you see what your going to get ahead of time..
You really think I can get a 2017 for 13k? Maybe 14k out the door? I checked with my insurance company and the 2017 is 1800 a year CHEAPER than the 2015... very odd but true.
Maybe not the cheapest FJ1200, but I thought it was worth mentioning because it's fully farkled. I can see tons of things the seller isn't even mentioning, e.g. the SuperTrapp exhaust, the fork brace, the rear EBC contour rotor. It has wheels that can take modern radials too

I've spotted a seller on kijiji which I've been considering. If anyone has information whether i should stay away from this bike, please let me know. Seller said it has a rebuilt motor and the ad describes what he thinks is left to finish the bike. I have no problem working on a bike but not looking to rebuild the entire thing. Thanks for any input. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-sport-tourin...ationFlag=true
I just want to point out that a) it doesn't need fork seals, the seal he is talking about is for the aftermarket shock which is not installed on the bike and b) I don't think you can get more reliable than an air cooled carbed I4, but that's just my opinion. As far as touring bikes go, I think generally all Japanese bikes are sufficiently reliable, however not all of them are equally serviceable

a) you're probably right, I only glanced at the ad
b) you're probably right again
However,
c) it's still an old *** bike with little appeal and little value no matter how farkled; its age and mileage will also mean a lot of worn out and brittle components, there's no magic
This is encroaching on MacDoc territory - where we presume that the realistic price of the bike is based on its quality and/or practicality instead of the market value.
So, I'm not saying don't get this motorcycle, I'm saying don't pay almost $3,000 for it because no one else will.

Do yourself a favour and buy a bike that works. There's a ton of SVs out there. MSRP was low on them to begin with (usually around 6-7K) so finding one for around $3,000 in good shape shouldn't be too difficult.

$3500 for a common 7 year old bike with high mileage that was crashed and requires head work is nuts. For that bike, I would be thinking $1000 or less and even then I probably wouldn't want it.
