The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

Would you guys recommend that as a first bike? I was thinking about getting either a ninja 250 or 300. But the price is pretty good for the 500. Also is the milage good ? Sorry I am a noob. What would be a good offer to shoot at him if I was to get the bike.

It's cheap, easy to ride and will be easier on insurance than a lot of other bikes.
As long as the tires are ok, she's not pissing out oil then ya ide grab it for a first bike

Earlier this year I was trying to decide between a Ninja 250, 300, CBR 250, 300, GS500 and EX500 as my first bike.

It seems like the 250/300/500 insurance rates are pretty similar, with the 500's being ~$500/yr more or so. I don't think the insurance would be the deal breaker when shopping those bikes.

Ultimately I ended up buying a Ninja 300 for fuel injection, ABS, being a newer bike, and looks. No point in buying something if you're gonna look at it everyday and think "man I wish I got the ____ instead"

Offer him a gnote.
And for a few bucks you could prolly work a deal with someone here to go with you, take a look at it, and trailer it back for you. (Maybe more than a few bucks, but it will be worth it.)

The best he can do is 1250.
i dont blame him...and no way would he do the safety on it at that price. it may not need anything but really he would be just givng money away..
not much has changed on the ninja 500's over the years.

I'm no expert, but if you offered a g and he cane back with that price, I may take a chance. The others I quoted definitely know more than I, but if it all works out well, this could be a bike that you could ride for many years.
I would definitely reach out to a few members here though. Iirc you said that none of your friends ride, right?
You're not gonna do much better than that for $1250. Looks pretty clean too.

I would ask him to do the safety, but you pay for it. That way you know up front what it needs, and he may still be able to ride it over to a shop.

So $1250+pay for safety and I would offer a coffee and $20-$25 for his time. But I may be too nice.

The issue I am having is insurance. Liability only it's 1900 a yr.a 2015 ninja 300 abs with full coverage is 1850. So does it make sense buy this bike and pay $50 for insurance and get basic coverage or finance a a 300 and get full coverage

That's a choice only you can make. But let me paint a picture for you....
None of your friends ride, so easier for you to not give a eff what people think of your bike.
Your riding into your driveway, take a spill and jamb the thingy into the other thing and now the bike needs xxx dollars to repair. Now you have to pay for repairs and make payments on that flashy new bike. And yes. Those are the official names for motorcycle parts. Just an opinion from an old guy that isn't fond of debt.

But as I said (and so did Black Sheep) the choice is yours.

FWIW, I paid for my (used) 300 in full but I'm opting for full coverage regardless. Not that 250/300's are popular theft targets, but not worth the paranoia.

Also, I don't know what your situation is but I was getting quotes around there before I contacted Ronn at Dalton Timmis. Then it went down to below $1200.

26 clean record. Got m1 Last week. Doing saftey course in first week of may. I got 1900 with dalton for the ninja 500 with basic coverage. Ninja 300 was 1850 with full coverage.

We're in the exact same situation (26, clean record, no experience) - I'm guessing you're looking to insure your bike ASAP? I'm only gonna put the bike on the road after I do the MSF in a couple of weeks.
