is that VTEC in Honda lingo?

No
VTEC = Variable Valve Timing & Lift Electronic Control
Honda's system of variable valve timing. The system can advance or retart valve timing as the RPM changes.
Honda's system is different from everyone else's as it can also change the cam profile (lift and duration).

gear driven dual OHC, 4 valves per cyl

Describes how the cam(s) are driven, gears instead of the usual belt or chain
With 2 Overhead cams, with 4 valves per cyl.

Vortec is GM truck engine

Honda has developed a new version of the VTEC variable valve timing and lift specifically for two-wheelers. While Honda has offered Hyper-VTEC on its bikes since the 1990s, the motorcycle system is actually a rebranded version of the earlier REV arrangement, used on the CB400 since 1983

Bike's insured and plated atm.?
Talked to poster. It's her son's ride.
Hopefully get to see it tonight if he's back in time?
If not, she said tomorrow.
Good luck Gary! Every time people post these rare finds I always think of @PrivatePilot and his lost Volt...Hope you get it!

sorry for the highjack
tractor with loader for 3K, and it runs

Don't post **** like that I have enough junk and the wife gets mad when I drag more home. Fortunately that one is a bit old for me to consider.

Do the CB400 and CB1 share engines?

I can't speak for subsequent CB400's, but I'm pretty sure the CB-1 motor is modified from the CBR-400R, and incredible little bike, and in of those jewel-like 400's they made at the time because of Japanese licencing laws.

I only remember this because I owned a Hawk GT, which was a similar sales flop that went the opposite approach: pop a low-tech v-twin into a smaller version of the legendary RC30 chassis.

It was a visionary approach, but not a successful one. Considering they were charging the same as a CBR600 at the time, nobody bought them and the models only lasted two years. Nobody copied the CB-1 approach, I suspect because 400cc became almost impossible to sell outside Asia, but Suzuki learned from Honda's pricing mistakes and the SV650 became one of the greatest bikes of all time.

Either way, they're both stone classics. I hope you gets your CB-1. I know I'd love to have a Hawk GT again...

Would love some feedback on my 2011 F800ST for sale, guys...I've got it listed at $7,000 now and it already compared well with others for sale (just lowered it, so now I've got them beat). What do you think would be reasonable? TIA :)

With BMW, options provide for a lot of price variance. The "hot" markets right now still seem to be cruisers and dualsport/adventure bikes, they sell fast.
Without more details, (mileage, options, etc) it's hard to judge pricing.
With that said, if you're in the kijiji ballpark just be patient.

On behalf of HawkGTForum, we would love to see you back in the fold!

I'm just stoked to know it's still going!

I stole a lot of tuning advice off that site back in the day (most seemingly from Hord, I think his name was), even if I ended up ruining my Hawk GT for the street by chasing a whopping 60 bhp. I never got into modifying internals, but had a stage 3 jet kit, Uni pod filters, six piston brake caliper, braided lines, Penske shock and Race Tech cartridge emulators and springs. Sadly, life got in the way and I sold before I could ever refine the package. I saw one today, actually, on College just west of Spadina. Those egg-beater rims are unmistakable...

Bike carries Alberta ownership. Branded rebuilt.
Owner knew that going in. Didn't realize ON don't play that.
Don't think I want it.. ($1000 now)
Can you even use that thing on the street with a rebuilt title? Or just a track toy?

Damn. Not the best track toy to find parts for. It would have been a cool street bike if it was possible.
