The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

That RD-LC is a parts bike at best.
I went to see the bike, nice guy. He has several RD-LCs.

The tank is trash, fork sliders and tubes are done, no pipes, no carbs, no charging system, weird rear sets, needs top end and bottom end done... what else?

It is still worth $1325, it will be going south of the border soon. Act fast!

$13.25

Yeah. I know.
Somehow people have got the idea that old RDs are rare.
I don't get it. I was around when they were current. In the early seventies half the bikes on the road were Yamaha twins.
A good RD350 sells for $5,000USD.
A good RD400 1A1 $5000 and up.
A good Daytona $7000
A good '89 CDN RZ350 (the blue one, the BEST RD ever sold anywhere) starts at about $10,000USD, a really nice low mileage one sold at the beginning of Dec for $17,750USD.

I don't understand it, but I support it 100%.
I own about a dozen Yamaha twins. Some REALLY nice ones. If somebody wants to give me stupid money for them, I'll take it.

Yamaha tdr250. Very rare, especially in this condition. Owner may think it's worth gold though. I'd love to buy it.

This bike looks awfully familiar... http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?181319-Yamaha-tdr250

Edit: Maybe not, didn't realize that swingarm sticker was OEM

Edit 2: Definitely not, tires are different... I doubt someone so out to lunch would bother

I think $3K is a fair price. Those bikes aren't popular here but they are expensive. You can still find them in the middle east and parts of Asia at reasonable prices -- a quick search turned up a couple in the $1300-2000 range. Add another $1200 for paperwork and sea freight and you have a bike for $2500-3200. Importing bikes isn't that hard if they are 15 years old -- do some basic paperwork, load it on a ship, pay a few trivial fees when the bike arrives in Toronto.

I have a few unmolested so-called collectibles in my garage. I've seen butchered examples on Kijiji for 3x what I can expect to get for an unmolested, un-crashed, bike.

This is a great deal, the big brother to the TDR, this bike retired the original African Twin after dominating it in the Paris Dakkar. If you think the TDR250 is a hoot, strap yourself to one of these:

I messaged him as well and asked him what he wanted for it he said a roadtreck.I messaged him back saying, ok so it is not for sale? He responded that he needs a good offer but will not name a price.

Whats the actual real life value of that bike given its got collectors item status attached to it? 5K tops?

looks okay in that picture, but with 28k on it
engine condition would be the variable
I'm guessing it's been untouched
at the very least it'll need a top end refresh
and forks, shock, brakes will need some attention
would expect to drop a grand or 2 on it to be sure
nothing worse than buying an older 2 stroke with no known mtc history
and running to failure, assuming it's okay
full re-do on a YPVS after failure can be $$$

I'd agree, as is, with no history available, it's worth no more than 5K
if you go see it and it's a little banged up and rusty - can't tell from the pic
could be 3-4 K

if it's unmolested and in good shape
with mtc files indicating some good attention
maybe 7-8 K

Ha, Ha. I have 14 of them. Some are really nice and original, I still have my original 83 that I owned from new with 2800k on it with, some Hybrids with RGV running gear, a couple with a 421 and 443 cheetah conversions, a YamaGamma and even 2 that I still race that Denis Curtis has worked his magic on.

I also have a couple of 500's and I still believe that the 350 was by far the better bike. I know which one I'd take if I was going for a ride. The 500 is the bike you take to Timmy's

Off topic, but are you delboy as in delboy's garage?

If so, I really like your videos
