Not all sunrise locations are created equal since they are just franchises. I totally stay away from the one downtown on Yonge. Worst service ever and oh yeah the last time I went in there and they had no rice and the lazy employees were arguing and blaming each other for it to not look bad if front of a big line up of people.

Do any of you guys eat at Living Well (aka Mainsha Plus) at Jane/Finch mall? The food there is pretty good I just wish they gave more meat on that mountain of rice.
 
I've been to island foods since it's just down the street from my work and it was the first only place I've been to have a Roti and had the lamb with extra sauce, was pretty tasty. Any other recommendations for a good roti place so I have something to compare to? also, is oxtail like chicken feat?
 
Been there once and it was alright. My favourite jerk chicken was Mainshaw across from Thorncliff mall. Damn tasty and damn cheap... I think it was $3.50 for jerk chick, rice n beans and a drink. On tuesdays it was $2.50! Too bad they're gone now but rumour has it there's another one out east...

Living Well at Jane/Finch use to be called Mainsha and I think we are talking about the same owners here and probably the same menu. They have a mini meal combo for 3.50 and they do toonie tuesdays - 2pc fried chicken on rice for $2.75. The standard larger portions are all $7 flat (tax in).

Oxtail is not like chicken feet at all, round centre bone with meat around.. its beef.

can't really mess up roti, its the curry that's wrapped inside that you are really after.

ooh that's really close by, I'll have to check it out to confirm. Got me a serious craving for some jerk chicken now. Thanks!

Tried the Mr. Jerk oxtail yesterday and I was seriously disappointed!
So far, Beryl's is the best.

the jerk aint been making good food in thr last 10 years.. somewhere along the linr they got commercial and lost "it"

i make my own oxtail. its super easy and taste great.

1. go get some oxtail
2. put them in a pot
3. put water, tomato, veggie, onion garlic and you choice of spice.
4. bring to boil then bring down to simmer. and let cook for an hour atleast.

after a few tries you will nail down the spice mixture and the total cooking time.
 
Is it really a dirty old oxtail? from an ox?

I didn't try the oxtail, I am eating Beryl's jerk pork at the moment. NOT EVEN IN THE SAME Time or Space continum compared to mr jerk. It taste like they microwaved it from yesterday's left overs.

in terms of price, portion, quality, quantity Mr. JErk still number 1.
