The DVP

+1000 to don mills, I take a slightly different route but fairly empty till about eglinton.

Dundas -> Munro -> don jail -> broadview -> don mills all the way to steeles

DVP is awesome... that **** was our race track back in the Elements days

Kick off with a few laps of the Lawrence ramps and then blast down to Bayview in about 45 seconds ahhhhh yes good times...

Ahh yes the good ol'days....jeez how time flys. I was referring to "elements" not blasting that absolutely sensual highway with beautifully banked corners and seductive curves...that would be very irresponsible.

Its not just asian women, it applies to women in general... Plus they like to drive slow blocking traffic on the hwy. But guys on the other hand, the ignorant ones, they are the opposite of women. They are the aggressive jerks that would race u and speed past you.

its not nice to generalize but i noticed male drivers seem to get very angry if you dare pass them and they get aggressive.

Hey, i was thinking about riding to work. I dont think I can handle DVP in rush hours yet but would it be a bit better if I take yonge street all the way down? What do you think?

im not sure about the condition of yonge but during rush hour in the blazing sun, i prefer some movement on the street to crawling and stuck on highway

Did the trip home from dt yester , 6pm at bay/college . Tool bloor to broadview then to don mills and home at steeles at 630 good times

I guess it really depends on the time & direction of your travel.

I work in Markham, and when I need to head downtown after work, I take the DVP. Getting onto the DVP from the 400 is tricky at times, but being on a bike, your lane change options are greatly increased, so the wait isn't usually too bad. Once you're past Don Mills, it flows nicely all the way to the Gardiner.

When I'm on my bike, I can usually navigate traffic a LOT better than in my car... making aggressive moves in a car make other drivers mad, but the same ones on a bike; not so much.(I find). I guess it's because cagers can always see past you when on a bike.

+1, happens every day. Dudes in SUVs and minivans are the worst. Interestingly people in nicer sports cars know they can't beat bikes and don't often try.

Question. I don't ride commute on the DVP but I occasionally hit it during weekdays.

I presume it's legal to ride in the right lane, then when an onramp comes up to shift into that lane and ride it until you move back into the traffic right lane. As long as you switch lanes before the white line becomes solid this is okay?

I find right lane is fastest and combined with this I can get through traffic pretty quickly.

are you the guy the redlines his ss everyday @ 5pm? i swear it never fail, 5 pm on the needle i hear it screaming on the 8th floor through the solid reinforced office building windows that don't open.

I don't think this is illegal per se, but it is kind of a dick move.

they must be more at peace with themselves and not feel the need to prove something. i hate driving around vans and trucks! i feel like they can't see me

WOW! People actually ride around hoping for drivers to see them.
Good luck with that approach.

at least you're not dealing with huge amounts of trucks in the middle and right lane "forcing" drivers who shouldn't be on the road at all into the left lane at 105 km/h who absolutely refuse to move until they reach their exit... the 401 is just an absolute pleasure to ride

nah, I only make that ride once a week... if that. and I'm not on a SS

This thread is a nightmare reminder of how bad traffic is inthe city. Dvp has always been the worst one to chose. What is unfortunate it’sgetting worse. I don’t commute on bike, maybe odd Fridays, usually hop in thecar and in 10 min at work.

I feel safer weaving in and out of traffic until i get passed the pack, after that its smooth sailing. doesn't really work on the highway, but don mils is key.

I dunno. I left York university at 8 am, went to Vistek @ DVP and Queen St. E and was back to York for 9:20am.
