The Car Thread

Yeah bro its a Corvette, get with the times.

"All it does is go fast!" sounds pretty f'in good to me! For $85k I can go whoop on Lambos and McLarens?? Dayumnn

thats about all it can do. Mustangs are fast, Hellcats are fast, Vipers are fast, Camaros are fast.

The goal posts have moved on, wheres the all wheel drive? the mid engine? the hybrid? some other new emerging tech?

The other problem I have, is yes, it cheap, cos it is cheap. Most people on here excessively drooling over the Vette, have never seen, driven or sat in a current vette. The doors have that familiar cheap GM slam, riddled with electrical gremlins, the engine has questionable reliability, reviewers have posted all other kinds of demerits like noise, vibration, excessive heat, etc.....

but HEY, its faaaaaaaaaaast.

Goal posts have moved. The z06 moved them.

We were talking muscle cars when you group things like viper vette mustang etc. They're not meant to be hybrid or awd. Wtf is wrong with you? You're still butthurt about the nsx comments aren't you? The vette will wipe the floor with the nsx. You mad? That cheap electrical gremlin having vibration box is going to walk all over your "state of the art" shitbox acura. So for the rest of eternity we have to see you post nothing but bs about why every other car sucks? :dontknow:

People will buy whatever they want and a lot of the times it comes down to semantics. Even if another car has better specs. Look at the people that have the Aston Martins. Great car, don't get me wrong and anybody would be lucky to have one. A friend has one and we traded for a day. I couldn't wait to get my car back. I asked my friend after how he came to get the car. He just said that he liked it, so he bought it.

Test drove a 2011 sti today and i actually liked it a lot. Easy to drive, hood scoop doesn't get in your way at all, wing doesn't get in your way either.

When I got back into my frs I almost slammed the clutch through the footwell after going from a heavier (relatively speaking) clutch to a lighter one.

That's a better way of leaving a dealership than this

LOL

I like that new Z06 but am now in the place where getting the fastest car is not that important. I have a 750hp 911 turbo that is tuned for various boost settings - I drive it on the lowest setting (~500hp) 100% of time the last 2 years. Its been dynod three times, 650, 675 and 709, AT THE WHEEL on three different dynos and its still AWD. Who cares - 500hp in car that handles well is more than sufficient unless you're driving a massive bus like the GTR.

I also had a supercharged 2002 NSX, with tons of other modifications thrown at that car, for many years. Honda missed their window to produce an R8 or MP412C - they've both been out for years. The new NSX wont be that great IMO. I dont think that it will be a standout vs the R8 or McLaren, or even the Gt3s

For my money these days Id buy a used 12C or get that new Cayman Gt4.

Yeah for the price the vette is a great option. It's not fugly like the gtr and I dare to say it should even spank the new nsx if we ever see one on the road here. ;)

Here's the top 12. Not much time separating them at all and the huracan is right up the vettes tail, granted at 3 times the price.

Are any of you guys car salesman? Im thinking about what I'm gonna do after I'm done university and I wanted to hear what car salesmen like or dislike about their job

Post some pics of the 911, what gen is it? 996? I still wanna buy one... values are just about bottomed, IMO

I've done every other job in the dealership but sales. There's not enough money for me to deal with people on that level. By that I mean I don't like people. You can make good money if you're the right type. Ask Mina. I believe he's in sales.

Not sales per se, but I've been in the dealer industry for over a decade.

Positives - Sky is the limit for your earning potential, most dealerships will have one or two top guys making in excess of $200k, and a few more breaking $100k
Negatives - Most people don't have that killer instinct, and barely make a living wage. Forget about reasonable work hours or days off. Especially Saturdays, no one gets Saturdays off.

Don't think I've ever recommended a friend to get into the auto industry.

Anyone see Deadmau5's new Mclaren P1 yet? I stopped in Pfaff today and checked out the silver one they have in the showroom. Pretty impressive. For that kinda $$ I would rather have the LaFerrari based on looks personally.

996TT, and it's been great. Its my daily for 12mos of the year unless I can take the bike, which I'll usually do instead. The last of the fully analog Porsches IMO which makes it more connected driving but also easier to modify.

I've had it for many years and all that's gone wrong is its ignition went with I fixed myself for $25.

There's a wide range of values. When I was looking many years ago everysingle one of the lower priced cars had issues. If you're looking for one, the cheapest 996TT will probably end up being the most expensive. Common problems are transmission ($14k in my car fixed under warranty by previous owner).

Hell yeah she's a beauty. I'd be very thorough about buying one, for sure. Pretty cool you use it as a daily lol
