The Bad Riders of Ontario Thread

While I agree they should be dealt with, the punishment seems steep for the crime.
Poor schmuck!....Nah. This is what ya get for supporting the Hells Angels from Quebec.Hahaha.

Ouch. Gas powered bicycle. 45 day impound for $3000 plus six charges.

These things needs a license!? I guess by definition it’s a Limited Motorcycle as it’s under 49cc?

I see tons of these around here and thought they just flew under the radar like e-bikes.

No, every E-Bike user, not just these gas conversion users, needs the same kind of fines.

Wrong. Pedal assist e-bikes under 500W/<32kmh are legal.

Would love to hear the dialog during that traffic stop.

They're classified as mopeds and as such need a plate, insurance and a valid driver's licence.

When was the last time you saw a pedal assist bike on the street, and when was the last time you saw a E-Bike masquerading as a CBR?
I've seen a guy a few times on my way to work (when I take the back roads). E-bike with either pedals tucked in or removed (can't be 100% sure)
The first time I saw it, I wondered why is that guy on the motorcycle riding so close to the edge? then when they passed and was 100% silent is when I realized it was a E-Bike dressed up to look like a sports bike, the guy was even in full motorcycle gear. Now I am not sure if it was an addon kit or it was made this way (I don't research E-bikes) but from a distance (and even to someone who rides) it is a very convincing fake..

Deflecting doesn’t make you any less wrong.

They’re out there. You just don’t notice them because they look like a normal bicycle at a glance.

I see 2 of these whizz by my office window every day. I don't think the cops really care about mopeds and ebike compliance unless the rider behaviour gives them another reason to pull them over.

In the example above, the stacking of charges to reach $12,000 plus the impound is just the outcome of uncooperative citizen vs. Cop.

He also didnt want to stop and happened to be on a suspended license. He was in a bad place from the beginning. Now, seizing the clearly illegal vehicles isnt the worst plan but I still want judicial oversight. Within 72 hours, present pics and case to jp and Jp can decide what to do with the vehicle.

Technically, possibly depending on the why like DUI, if someone has a suspended license they cannot operate any motorized vehicle, that includes unlicensed e-bikes. Of course a gas powered vehicle is worse as it does not even fall under the e-bike regs.

Used to do that all the time on my 250, along with about 100 others to park downtown beside the CBC before they renovated. Well, not the nearly striking a pedestrian part.
Yeah, I wonder if he was rolling it walking speed or if was using the sidewalk as a lane.

I was in Vaughan a few months ago. A ********* parent was ripping up the sidewalk beside a park on a tiny gas powered four wheeler. Kid in his lap with a bicycle helmet on, dad had no helmet. Probably going 50 km/h up the sidewalk. Apparently that's how they get to the park every day.

Speaking of ebikes, keep your eyes open for this pervert in Toronto.
