The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

^^ Doesn't work.

^^ Impressed that the car wasn't pushed right into the post. It plowed right through the idiot left-turner.

I hate when people are stopped in the middle of the road like that to let someone turn left. It's so dangerous. If there's a lineup to the lights that's one thing, but if the road in front of you is clear you should just keep going.

Not Ontario, but relatable. I saw someone rip through a left turn at a T intersection in a BMW in the rain on friday, initiate a full drift and almost go into the oncoming lane. Wasn't in my car at the time so I don't have it on dashcam.

How is the road "clear" in that video? Maybe it's the fish-eye camera but the intersection looks pretty close. The screaming banshee in that video is trying to get to the front of the line at the upcoming red light - doesn't want to let the person turning left out the parking lot in front of her and isn't even paying attention to the fact that the person in the left lane has stopped likely trying to let someone in.

Nothing erks me more than people rushing to stop - what's the bloody hurry trying to rush to that stop light? Be a nice person and leave space at intersections for those trying to turn.

Of course the person turning is at fault, but at the same time have some courtesy for your fellow drivers and if it's not going to cause you a huge delay LEAVE SPACE AND LET THEM TURN.

Except that it wasn't an intersection; it was a private drive.

I'm talking about the upcoming stop light, not the "avenue drive" or wherever the crash took place. Maybe it's the fisheye but that intersection looks pretty close.

Again, I'm not defending the left turner, definitely at fault. But I get so frustrated at people not leaving a space when lined up at a stoplight - and those ACCELERATING towards a red light are the worst offenders, trying to make sure they get home 5 seconds sooner.

The sign is for Avenue Road, which is some distance ahead. The car in question was likely doing 50Kmh or less, likely around 40Kmh, based on my experience with wide angle lenses. That's not exactly "rushing." Driving at the limit or less, in a clear lane, is perfectly acceptable behaviour. The driver of the car with the camera bears no responsibility, moral nor otherwise, and it's all on the person turning. He could have easily stuck his nose far enough ahead to see, prior to darting out into the oncoming curb lane. Instead he made an assumption.

Guess I'm "too nice" of a driver then - in my cage seeing this (upcoming red light, 3 cars stopped in left lane with brake lights on), I would have been braking without even thinking.

THe light turns red at the moment of impact and was green for the whole time before. There is no reason why the person at the front is stopped at the middle of the road.

Two stupid people joined forces to create this situation.

Nissan driver should not have stopped to let the driver turn. Stopping in the left lane while the right lane is still moving freely creates a dangerous situation.

Honda driver should not have turned when unable to see traffic in the curb lane.

Stupid.

It's quite possible the Nissan driver was already stopped, and had been stopped for a long time. Look at all the traffic on-coming. The nissan driver, and the cars behind could have been stuck waiting for a line-up of people trying to turn left in front of them at the light ahead. Just something to consider.

good catch, my bad... for some reason I thought it was red the whole length of that clip. either way i agree with you guys it was the person turning who was at fault, I'm biased because I get very annoyed by people who leave no room for those turning because it happens to me every night when I try to turn onto my street :p

Hey @boots what about on Islington going north to Rutherford? When ever I approach a red and there are people waiting to turn left into the CC I'll stop. Even with no one at the red light. Most drivers are aholes up here and won't let them turn. Not to mention all the people usually lined up to turn onto Rutherford blocking the left turners.

Sometimes those guys are lined up blocking that lane.
