The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

All fair and valid, but doesn't mean he saw it; and by your argument in your previous post regarding this latest vid, that should be a factor, no? It doesn't really matter though as my point from the start has been this guy instigated the altercation, or at the very least escalated if you want to argue that; though I feel a late lane change is hardly 'instigation' .... All that honking and rage, for what? Absolutely nothing gained, nor is there by posting plate numbers to the interweb. smh

You're assuming the instigation and escalation. From where I sit there's a good possibility that the camera car driver in no way instigated the incident, as per my explanation regarding field of view, while the driver of the other car must almost certainly have known that he was forcing the camera car toward other cars and the wall. I call that escalation. It wasn't just a lane change, it was a continuous multiple lane change, which almost put the camera car into the breakdown lane.

I want to take you seriously, but really

Are we even talking about the same video?

The secondary lane change was clearly after the camera driver lost his **** and accelerated to be along side the Merc, laying on the horn the entire time... I fail to understand how that doesn't qualify as escalation. Push someone, they push back. They're both guilty of losing their cool, yes, but how you can sit back and defend the camera drivers actions is beyond me... I'll leave it at that

If you leave a gap, someone is gonna try and fill it. Camera car left some space and the Merc took it. Camera guy sped up and blew the horn and then it just got ugly.

Did the Benz need to make a lane change? Nope. Were they about to miss an exit? Nope. Was his lane near a stand still and watching traffic pass him by? I think so. And I think camera car driver was trying to do the right thing leaving some space but, it's an open invite for folks to do what the Merc did.

Is it right? Not really. Is it safe? Not really?

But, this is just the way it is. And when I'm in the camera guy's position, I generally let them ahead of me. Otherwise, I try to keep that gap relatively small but, it really does depend on the flow of traffic. Don't like riding a bumper either.

Funny, I've been asking myself the same thing almost since it was posted.

... or accelerating and changing lanes to try and get away from him, while being forced over.

Holy cow - pistols at dawn please, and duel this out once and for all.

No thanks; when I say I'll leave it at that, that's exactly what I do... I know it's tough to believe in anyone backing down in this cam rage culture, but I'm seriously not bothered ;)

So did they horn or something? How did you know to change lanes??? Or did they come up fast and you drifted over?

i would blame the sunrise ... i noticed her driving unaware of her surroundings for a while - i was not expecting it but past jameson i become more paranoid to what everyone is doing due to construction, being early in the morning and ppl are still sleepy and full dose of sun in your face making you even more sleepy).

**** happens and happy i was checking the mirrors

I've had that happen to me a few times, over the years. Sometimes the car driver is obviously being an aggressive idiot. Other times, like this one, I'm convinced that the driver has no idea how to drive around a motorcycle and so treats it like a bicycle. There's no real time taken to tell drivers how to handle motorcycles, in our testing system, so this is what we get.

I wish ontario would institute a German style licencing system ... you graduate when you understand roundabouts, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, streetcars - too laxed and not enough awareness
