Thank you gtam for not selling out

How bad is it elsewhere and what makes it bad?

I'm only on a couple of forums StormTrooper (kinda quiet right now, but I'm not active there) Couple of HD forums, just like HD bikes they are a different bread of users.

They buy forums and destroy them stromtrooper is one and they bought adv rider last year. After the purchase they increase the advertising then change it to their standard template. They also make it way easier to spam and scam just for better numbers. Tapatalk doesn't work on their forums either. Most forums die within a few years after purchase.

Good suggestion... does GTAM accept donations without using PayPal these days??
Perhaps some eTransfer email address??
I don't use Paypal anymore just a transfer. Contact an admin for the best address.

I had a Goldwing forum as a go to but it became too popular and the owner couldn't keep up with the day to day running. He sold it and the new owners added advertising and let a bunch of rednecks run the show.

They didn't have a trash talk section before but now the whole forum is trash talk.

This seems to be one of the last forums left that haven't sold out to vertical scope. They have ruined every other forum adv rider included. Anyone left here should consider a donation again if it has been a while.

Thank you so much for the kind words. GTAM has been approached, in the past.

GTAM has been a huge part of my life for 25 years and not having it would leave a big hole in my life. I'm not ready for that.

So, you'll have to be patient and bare with me as I continue to try and figure out some of these bugs, as they arise. Paul was the one that handled these things most of the time. I promise, I'm learning.

BIG HUGS TO ALL

As a matter of fact... I've always hated PayPal and with the current issue Eveox tagged me on with respect to the tip jar I might just end up removing it and creating a sticky post for anyone that wants to make a donation. What do you guys think?

Your can etransfer to accounts@gtamotorcycle.com. Please include your member name in the message box.

If you turn on the auto deposit would make it much easier to send an e transfer without a security question

The "other" (make specific) forum that I am a member of has recently switched to Verticalscope and I only got to know of it when I started getting the "server not available" error message while trying to access that forum via Tapatalk.
To be polite, let me share that the response times to access that forum's threads are almost "dial-up" long and the Verticalscope native app "Fora" is really buggy.
Hopefully Cutekill and Team stay away from Verticalscope!

I'll revisit this option. It's not set that way right now because I have to manage multiple accounts that get e-transfers and can't have payments landing in the wrong ones.

I was an admin at a one of Verticalscopes larger (probably largest, at the time) forums many years ago. At the time they were mostly hands off day to day operations (although on occasion some random employee would show up and decide to change things inexplicably with no communication), but the most frustrating part that they locked down a lot of things even for the admins that it often made life difficult for us as we needed to go ask our VS rep to make changes or whatnot for us, so it added a gatekeeper level for some ridiculous things.

And yeah, the advertising - all of a sudden things would be foisted on us, often with major changes to the forum itself, with little to no input from the existing team that actually ran the place on a day to day basis.

When I "retired "I basically left the forum completely as the whole situation had left a bad taste in my mouth.

I popped back week or so ago just to see what the place looked like and I barely recognized it anymore. Instead of maintaining it character, it's just been white washed into yet another VS forum, several others of which they also own on the exact same topic, and they all look the same short of a different banner photo.

If anybody wants to start up a competing forum for any of the ones that VS has ruined for them, I'll offer my services as I am exceptionally well-versed when it comes to that sort of thing (about 4 decades of experience dating back to the days of BBS's, for those who remember that era), however having been there done that, it can be a difficult task building a critical mass of membership, and it is certainly not a free venture.

And @cutekill, if you ever decide it's time to move on from GTAM and you want to sell, keep me in mind, as I'd be interested, and having no love for verticalscope myself either, I'd keep it the way it is as well.
