taco / burrito places

Have yet to make it to a burrito boyz, but I expect too make it there at the year end...

If you find yourself in the Niagara Falls area, I highly suggest Frijoles on Portage, amazing burritos, tacos, etc..

If there were enough Niagara riders this would be a fantastic weekly ride night location.

For good authentic mexican I also recomment Chile and Agave in St Catharines, very auithentic mexican. Reasonable too, most dinners are ~ $15.00. no problem to have a dinner for two for $50

If there any real "authentic" mexican place here thy would. I know there's one place forgot the name and where it is but yes it does exist here.
I had one in Salinas and it's gonna be pretty hard to top that.
 
% Try Burro Burritos...but make sure you go to the one in Little Italy and not the one in the clubbing district. I was there yesterday and the ingredients are CRAZY fresh and they're actually Mexican if you know Spanish and wanna shoot the **** with them. We looked it up aferwards and I can see how they have 94% on urbanspoon.

Fun fact: putting a percent sign somewhere else in the post stops it from making that weird symbol sign where you actually want it to show up..

you wont get authentic Mexican north of Colorado, the ingredients and preparation required dont get utilized in fast food. Maybe find a Mexican to make you dinner and you have a chance.

Really? There's a couple places to get Authentic Mexican or close-to in the GTA

Pretty decent Mex for a white guy (Brad is a friend of mine from high school). His grilled catfish is something else (no, it's not on the menu - you have to be at a party he's manning the grill at to try that).

My buddy would get mex there when he was wrenching at St. Catharines Motorcycle. Said it was ok.

RIP Casa de Cardena. THAT was authentic.

Couple of real nice places run by latin immigrants that I know of. They may not be as good as LA or Guadalajara (I've never been, so I actually can't say), but they're a hell of a lot closer to the real thing than chain places like Taco Del Mar, Burrito Boys, etc. (not that I'm too good to eat at either of those places or anything).

First that I know of is Tacos El Asador at 680 Bloor West. These guys do plenty of small taco plates and the like you can order piecemeal and they do have the heat if you want it.

The other is Como En Casa at 565 Yonge Street (the sign is actually just a big sign that says "MEXICO", right close to Yonge & Wellsley). These guys have good dinner-type plates, from regular stuff like tacos, to mexican beef roast and the like.

Both places are dirt cheap and good eats.

There used to be a PHENOMENAL place on St. Clair, close to Bathurst, but they closed down and the replacement (also Mexican) doesn't hold a candle to the previous holder. There also used to be a guy on the Danforth who had the best damn service in the city (food was pretty decent southern-mexio Veracruz type eats) but he closed down too. :/

Finally a real response. Will have to try these out with the wife. Tacos for dinner then taco for dessert at home. :)

There is an "authentic" mexican resto next to Vaughan Mills called La Taquizza. Its authentic in the sense that its run by a mexican and the menu is larger than the texmex burrito joints but I wouldn't say the place is really great. At best, its just "good enough"

Toronto doesn't have a good mexican food scene. I dont think all these burrito joints even qualify as mexican food.

Ive been to Mexico but the best mexican food Ive eaten was in L.A and its effing amazing. Chicago was good too as it has a large mexican population (over 20 percent; I believe) so if you go to the madison street weekend markets, you can load up on "authentic" $1 tacos all day.

Big Fat Burritos in Kensington Market is good, lots of choices. Burrito Boyz is also good although I find their burritos a bit on the small side lately. And if you are ever in Wilmington, NC, try Flying Amy's Burritos - the wasabi/guacamole dip is so good. They have a huge cart in the middle of the room with several different bowls of dip for the free corn chips. The floors crunch as you walk.

If you like empanadas, there is a small hole in the wall place around the corner from the Lakeshore Burrito Boyz. I haven't been there in a while though so I can't say if they are still there.
