Suzuki factory Brembo brakes.

Some of the new Suzuki models are now equipped from factory with Brembo brakes.
Does anyone know the interchangeability between these??
Basically I'd like to upgrade the brakes on my Bandit and am just wondering if any of the suzuki ss bikes share calipers, masters ect?
 
I've been thinking about this from the moment I saw them and would love to do this to my bike as well.
I would love to go with the new cluster and showa shocks too.
 
Im sure you could install the radial master/ calipers from a GSXR1000 or Busa for increased braking... There must be some threads out there on conversions
 
If you're referring to the GSXRs, they have inverted forks with radial mounted calipers. Not swappable to a Bandit unless you found a custom bracket of some kind. You'd also probably need to upgrade to bigger discs as well.
 
chances are that the gsxr front end will bolt up to your bandit at which point you can upgrade the brakes....lemme know if you wanna go that way as i have the full oem 08 gsxr 750 front brake system (i upgraded to the R6 brakes/master)

I'm hearing that the brembo's on the gsxrs are not the coveted billet monoblocks that are thousand bucks a pop but their OEM line. Hell Aprillia Shiver comes with brembo's and i dont see anyone rushing to buy those.

The master may be a relatively simply swap, but the caliper is another story. Your Bandit has standard mount calipers whereas the Brembo's are radial mount, therefore the mounting points on your forks are not even oriented properly to accept radial calipers, let alone position of the mounts.
Option 1: Swap out the entire front end for a gsxr front end (i.e. upper and lower triples, forks, wheel, axle, rotors, calipers, fender, clip-ons or some kind of bar conversion). A good bit of work (but relatively easy), and not exactly cheap (maybe ~$1000 for used stuff), although complete front ends show up on ebay fairly regularly. You just have to be careful about what you're buying.
Option 2: Have someone custom fabricate some adapter plates that will mate your forks' caliper mounting points with the radial mount calipers. The tricky parts would be ensuring proper alignment with the rotor, and clearance with the wheel. I'd also imagine that any sort of adapter would introduce additional flex into the setup, which is not a good thing.

Option 1 is generally the approach taken with SV's, but I don't even know if it's possible with the Bandit, and option 2 seems like a less safe, less than optimal solution, for a relatively minor braking complaint.
 
there are such kits available already. however if there are some for the bandits im not too sure. even with the added flex the brakes will be better then stock. not perfect as if it had been designed for it, but better..

YOU gotta take into account, the weight of the bandit vs the gsxr.....and suspension geometry.

Yes you can swap them over, but would it be a conversion that would be worth it?
 
I'm thinking just a master may do the trick of firming up the brakes.

if I were you, i'd spend a bit more and buy a used 19x20 off some racing forum...they'r like $200 used for a minty one...

Ones you go brembo you will never go back.....

Even the convertible RCS's are cheap used now....

Just an FYI: Blades are expensive....so i'd try to find one with a folder lever....
 
I think the question that should be taken into account is not how you can adapt them, but should you, and do you need to?

Do you want to have brembos just because theyre brembos? Do you truly need the extra stopping power? Do you find that you truly need that extra bit of modulation? Have you ever locked up your front tire? Been on the brakes so hard the rear raises off the ground?
 
do you have Braided steel lines on the bike yet?

Good question. I think this will be the next mod on my Bandit. The brakes are complete mush and I'm hoping that braided steel will firm up the feel significantly. I don't think I would ever go as far as trying to convert to Brembo radial mounts though.
 
Braided steel lines and a good master cyl is all anyone would ever need on a streetbike.

+1 I have $1700 Brembo billet calipers, $900 Braking SK rotors, braided lines, and a Brembo 19x20 master.....The most noticeable difference comes from the cheapest part, the lines! Then the master, then the rotors and calipers barely even make a difference you can feel on the street...For this reason lines are always the first mod, then the master...

The fronts are just very soft and don't start applying brakes till half way thru the lever travel.
No air in system, I've bled the life out of these things. Just generic to the bike.

Thats your lines expanding, braided line with instantly give you a more positive feel and response...

Once you've done the lines, you won't want to bother doing anything else.

Unless you want the bling bling!

Even those OEM Suzuki Brembos hes talking about, most likely arent even noticeably better then the rest of the radial calipers out on bikes right now. And if you have to use adapters to use radial mounts on a conventional fork bottom your not getting the real benefits of the radial mount, your actually making it worst with more bolts and an extra bracket that adds flex ..Yamaha has been using their own mono blocks for a while...Ive used Nissin, Tokico, Brembo etc etc any they are all generally the same...I like using the Honda ones because they have the cheapest OEM pads at $50 a set compared to say Kawi at $90...
