Suzuki Demo Ride @ Brampton Powersports - July 16, 2011

last year on the ducati demo day, some guy took a corner way too hard on a hypermotard and lowsided.
he ended up paying for ~2k damages b/c it was 'his fault', and not the fault of someone else.

i think if its 'your fault' you end up paying the damages, if its 'not your fault' then you just pay the deductible.

but thats just what i think

Interesting... but wouldn't that entail paying for the whole bike if it gets written off? Is there no insurance? I've never been on a demo ride and I know for a fact I (and probably 90% of everyone else) would baby a bike and ride extra careful, but the whole point of insurance is that sometimes "**** happens".

Could the Powersports folks confirm? Thanks...

If you guys are this worried about crashing the motorcycles, maybe you shouldn't come on the demo ride.

I'm assuming you ride without insurance because nothing would ever happen to you and you're a perfect rider and everyone else who drives around you never drives drunk or texts or is careless or tailgates am i rite?

Can one test more than one bike?

- Info pulled right off Suzuki sight for demo day rules

To ensure everyone is treated fairly we will not accept advanced registrations. Initial ride bookings will begin at 9:30am. Bookings are done on a first come first served basis. Upon completion of your fist demo ride, you will have the ability to sign up for additional demo rides. Additional rides are subject to availability.

*Should weather conditions become a safety concern (i.e. rain), rides may be cancelled or interrupted. Scheduled rides may continue during periods of light rain; however, participants may be restricted to experienced riders with a full ‘M’ license only. Decisions are made at the discretion of the on-site Suzuki Demo Ride Supervisor.

I ride with full insurance and full gear. I commute to work everyday on my bike, 90km total, from April to December. I've seen plenty of drunk drivers, people texting, careless drivers, and tailgaters. I've had plenty of stupid stuff happen to me. And I'm not a perfect rider, as I've crashed more often than I should.

But when you're riding in traffic, there is a certain level of awareness you need to maintain precisely because of all of the elements you mentioned. I've only ever crashed on backroads, due to beginner/rider error. In traffic, I ride differently, and I've never had an issue that I couldn't handle.

On a demo ride, when it's not your bike, you need to be even more aware. It's not your property, so treat it better than if it were your own. If you're not mature enough to do this, don't come to the demo.

Look I'm not trying to start a fight here, and I did not doubt your insurance or safety, but the reason I asked the question was that on the most beautiful day, being the most careful, some dummy sipping on a latte can still cut you off or slam into you and ruin your day.

That's why I asked the question that no one else asked because I think they were expecting the same response from the gtamotorcycle community. And yes, I'm sure the dealer is probably shaking their heads as well!

I must've missed that part, but fair enough, I can see and agree with your point.

Just got off the phone with our Suzuki rep and wanted to share some information. I have been told that pretty much anything over 1000cc requires a full M license. I am sure you can understand that Suzuki doesnt want to trust a newer rider on a model like a Hayabusa or M109R. I have been informed that the onsite Suzuki Demo rep does have the discretion to refuse people access to bikes if they feel you are to "Shaky" (to use the reps words) or irresponsible. An extensive inspection of your license will be done before you are allowed to touch the bikes as well as a mandatory waiver that must be signed.

As for insurance, I started to ask about what would happen in a worst case scenario for the customers and his response was " Do not come to the demo tour if you are not 110% sure that you can and will handle the bikes properly and safely." Obviously accidents happen but as said before EXTRA care must be taken with these bikes. Suzuki does have insurance coverage for the event and if you still need more information ask the rep before you sign up for a bike.

ALSO! A 15% off accessories coupon has been made and can be found on www.bramptonpowersports.com under part specials or www.bramptonpowersports.ca at the bottom of the home page. We have just added an accessories page to our .COM site so you can see what kind of gear and brands we carry. You will have time between demos to check out our showroom and we carry gear for both men and women.

Probably a stupid question, what is considered accessories? Would, for example, slip-on muffler be considered an accessory or a part? :) Thanks!

Must I buy a bike at Brampton Powersports in order to take advantage of the coupons?

No not at all. Just straight up discount on total purchase of accessories. Just not valid with other deals.

Has anyone gone? It must be crazy busy. Any reports on the event?

Crazy busy is right. Rides are an hour apart and a lot of people showed up. I got in line around 9:10am and the earliest time I could get was 2:00pm (for what I wanted to try out). I didn't feel like waiting that long, so I just left.

Good turn out of people, wanted to try the gsxr 600 but id have to wait till 3.

I did get a chance to sit on gsxr 600 and cbr 600. Still debating which one to get for next season.

I thought I was going to be early, arrived about 9:15 and saw a line of about 35 people. I didn't stick around

Got there around 9:30 to try out the Gladius at 1pm. Very big turnout for all the bikes. I killed a bird on the test ride :(

what a joke. drove from downtown for 9:20 ... earliest gsxr was at 2pm. It would have helped if they had at least 2 demos of each bike, sigh.

Oh well still a good day for a long ride

Saw a chain of about 15 Suzukis go by. How did you all like our fine Suzuki motorcycles?
