The 250 is officially for sale and my sights are set on a 600. I have a few stupid questions:

1. What do I have to do as a seller to sell the bike? I want to sell it as-is because I don't have the time to go get it safetied so it's AS-IS. But do I just have to go get a UVIP package from the ministry and then just give away the permit? Is that it? Can I get the UVIP anytime (as in pick it up tomorrow and have it still be valid if I sell the bike next year?).

2. Are all the 600's pretty much in the same ballpark when it comes to pricing or is there a difference in price (if all things considered are the same) between the zx6r, gsxr, cbr or r6?

3. I'm focusing my search on either a GSXR 600 or the ZX6R and focusing in on the 2007-2009 years. What should I expect to pay for a private sale vs dealers APPROXIMATELY (I know there are many variables/factors that affect pricing). Just want to know what's acceptable vs what's out of the ballpark.

4. I've already paid the full year of insurance with SF, does everything get pro-rated and worked out etc?

Thanks.

Thanks.

1. Provide the uvip. Uvip info is guaranteed for 30days. The last page of the uvip has a Bill ofSale section. Fill that in, sign over the ownership portion after you get the money in hand. Plate portion and the plates stay with you.

2. The big4 japanese makes are all close to one another. Choose the one that feels best when you sit/ride it.

3. That range Gixxer had recalls for reg/rectifiers. 07-08 zx6 had undertail exhaust, 09 back to side mount.

4. SF will charge you more for your new toy.

Good luck.

1. Get a uvip whenever you want, they do not expire until the owner changes. They also include a page to use as a bill of sale if you want to. Once you and the buyer agree on a price, shipping/delivery and he gives you the funds, you sign the VEHICLE portion of the ownership and give it to the buyer, make sure you keep the PLATE portion if you want to reuse your plates.

2. Sorry, not much to put in for this.

3. A dealer will generally always be pricier and they will also make you pay full HST+licensing+fees. A good dealer will do a proper inspection of the bike and sell it certified. A shady dealer will try to hide imperfections.
The advantage to buying from private seller is you can work the price down and also save on taxes by telling the MTO you paid 100$ for the bike. There is no wholesale value on bikes in Ontario so even though the lady behind the counter knows you are lying, they can't do anything about it.

4. If you stay with SF and call to update your info they will simply bill you the difference between your 250 and your new bike. I am with SF myself and i know they go solely by cc. In that case, expect a price increase.

Hope some of this info helps.

In all my years of buying/selling used vehicles the buyer has always been the one that got the UVIP.

2006-2007 gsxr and 2008-2010 are different models.

Yup I understand. For the GSXR I would focus on the 08-10 model but for the zx6r I'm flexible on the year.

TBH I'm fairly set on the GSXR as it is the most comfortable for me and seem to be abundantly available. Any ideas on what I should expect to pay for an 2008-2009 gsxr 6? Is 7K a little too low?

What use is the information in the UVIP after the buyer has paid you, if you can show proof that there are no liens on the bike and me as a buyer has to go buy the UVIP then I would knock another $100 off the buying price for the trouble.

I know somebody mentioned this but make sure the GSXR had the recall done. Ask the seller, then call/email Suzuki with the vin. If the vin had a recall and it wasn't done, the seller clearly didn't give a **** about the bike.

There's a 2011 in black on here for 7900 I think....

Meh....just telling you my experience.

As a seller I've never been asked to provide it.

as a buyer, if the UVIP is not provided, i will not even consider the vehicle, until the UVIP is provided.

as a seller, i never sell without providing UVIP

i guess some people are just more trusting of others. i, however, rather be on the safe side, then on the side where i bought a vehicle with a lien on it.

Thanks.

1.) When I sold my 250 I provided the UVIP and safety certificate but I think the UVIP expires after a few weeks but you can get it from the ministry anytime for like $20

2.) GSXR's are the most comfortable to ride and also the cheapest

3.) Bought my GSXR 600 used for $6500 (private sale)....a 2008 that had 12500 km

4.) I'm also with SF and told them I got a new bike they just transferred the policy over to the GSXR and then just increased my rates every month but I pay monthly so not sure how they'll do that for you
