Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

The drz is just plain good at what it does. The s (dual sport not sumo) has been the only mid size bike in its class for a long time. It doesn't have to compete with ktm, they have a different purpose. The wr isn't necessarily better, that's up to the individual and their intended use. Just because it looks better on paper doesn't tell the whole story.

DR and WR are both overweight underpowered pigs, on the dirt. Only good reason to buy either is the you ride a lot on the street or are cheap.

You guys are missing the point. For its intended purpose, you can't beat it. Commute to work/school daily, ride around town at night, ride occasional trail on Saturday? Drz is perfect.
Wants a straight up woods weapon? Buy euro. Dead simple.

Call it cheap if you like, but did you ever consider that riding a $10k+ ‘true’ dirt bike just isn’t necessary for everyone?

I don’t enjoy racing around in circles in the Ganny or a SCORRA tract. I like exploring new areas and having a bike light enough and capable enough to ‘get through’ most given obstacles. I also like having a bike that is dead reliable so I don’t have issues with the fuel pump or what-have-you when I’m in the middle of nowhere – like I’ve seen happen many many times with KTMs, huskies, gas gas, etc... My DRZ does both of these things very well… and in most cases is all the bike I need.

I don’t like riding on the street, but considering that I go roaming and not trailering, then invariably I have to run a fair amount of street because of where I live.

Here is an advrider epic thread of 8 DRZs doing the TAT, and not a single breakdown or issue. That is what I like about the DRZ… it is tough and can take a beating: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/8-drzs-do-the-tat-backwards.1163375/

So take your bike snobbiness and go shove it you-know-where Steve – not everyone is you, and not everyone likes what you like.

Your use is exactly why you would get one to be honest lots of street and connecting use. I was referring to using one as a dirt bike

Here's a nice example of what I'm talking about, $400 more and you could have this instead of a drz

scheduled maintenance for ktm 500 - replace piston every 40-60 hours? ktm is nice and powerful, but I would take a long lasting bulletproof 35hp drz for the long run. but @ $7500 lol

How did it hold up, with a rebuild motor? What year/miles/condition was it in?
Bought is with 30k on chassis, original bottom end, new top end (440cc kit). Sold it with 50k on it and it still ran mint. Only had to do valve shims once.

WR is lighter, has better suspension travel, has FI, and has USD forks if i recall.

Almost forgot, the WR is probably better on the highway as well(6th gear) oh....and its cheaper than the drz ($7199 for wr....$7600 for drz MSRP)

If i wanted a bike that was quicker off the line, and passing power, id get a street bike ;)

Dinosaurs will die off, its only a matter of time
DR-Z supermoto model has inverted forks.

40lbs lighter, but a higher centre of gravity, 1/2" more suspension travel is nothing, and every dirt bike made in the last 15 years has had USD forks, including the DRZ. Can't argue about the EFI, definitely nicer to have, but carbs are easier to work on.

6 gears means nothing when you have 3/5's the motor. DRZ has more pick up above 60mph. There's no replacement for displacement lol

And I said the DRZ is a cheaper supermoto, not dual sport.

Don't be fooled though, I'm not aruging the DRZ is better just because I have one. The DRZ is an outdated, overweight mule. You're just picking from the wrong pro's/con's list.

Hey me too, except I'd pay 3500 for a used drz and just hammer it. To each their own but I think $10,000 for a dirtbike is bananas, And yes I am a cheapskate.

Keep in mind the wr 250 is essentially targeting the same niche as the drz.

Reliable, bulletproof japanese dual sport bike. they cost roughly the same.

Bought my drz new. 8500otd. was either that or beat up 3-7 year old models that have been ragged on for $5500-$6500. rather have a new one and pay the extra.
Also, that yoshi system is $1200. waste of money for just looks. looks like he didnt even jet it either. prolly has burnt valves.

Goddamn link me to where I can find this for $1200. I'd pay that everyday of the week for it.

Save your money and buy the MRD pipe. Makes the most power on a bike that needs all it can get.

I get the MRD is hand made, and you can probably make the most power on it, but there is something with the DRZ in that a stainless exhaust makes it so goddamn ugly. Some bikes can pull it off. Every Honda dirtbike looks great with an SS exhaust, but not the DRZ.

I'm more of a looks over function type of guy. I want a "carbon" exhaust like the Yoshi RS-2 for a full system or the Two Bro's M-2 Carbon slip on. The extra 1 or 2 hp mean nothing to me if I can't enjoy the looks of the thing.
