Stupid bicyclists...

First off you were in your car. To anyone on a bicycle or motorcyle you are just another miserable ahole cager. When it comes to cagers, bird is always the word. Today, I had someone yelling something at me for zero reason. This driver was in front of me. Perhaps he didn't like me tailgating. To bad, pick up the pace or I am going to pass when I get the chance. I couldn't hear over my mp3 player. I have no idea what he was saying. If you are in your car, don't talk to me. If you do, don't come crying on a motorcyle forum about the reply you will get: A Finger Salute and a F$%$ %%F. :agave:

And the opposite is true. To anyone in car, a bicyclist is just another a**hole biker.

But drivers are accountable for their actions, cyclists aren't required to register their bicycles, display a license plate or have insurance. It boggles me how many cyclists don't use lights at night.

Exactly. If a car hits you and drives off, you can get their license plate. If a cyclist hits you and rides off, there's not way to get their info. Cyclists know this and therefore don't give a ratt's *** if they hit you.

that's why plate blockers are essential in combating cyclists. gotta even out the playing somehow

This. Goddamn hipsters.... :p

I swear I don't get the bicyclist in Toronto. The sense of entitlement is ridiculous.
I watched this girl on Yonge street the other day try and squeeze past a dump truck and a parked UPS truck at a red light...the light turned green just as she was midway through them.....dump truck starts moving and is turning right.....this friggin genius rings her little bike bell chirp thing (REALLY?!?!) and keeps moving trough even though the truck is still making its turn......she finally realizes that the truck didn't hear her chirp and isn't stopping..... she brakes hard and almost falls over on to the UPS truck. She gains her composure, flips the bird to the back of the dump truck and starts throwing a fit in the middle of the street...... with cars behind her honking ......Unbelievable
Also I can't even count the number of times these ******** have blown stop signs almost running me and whoever else was crossing over. I won't even get started on the e-bike people...

That's pretty funny! I wonder if she was even able to hear her own bell riding next to the truck...
Do they think people actually hear that bell most of the time? Or that they can react as you ring your bell and zip past them?

Anyway, when I'm not on a motorbike, I'm on a bicycle so I do sympathize with most other cyclists. That said, there's a ton of people who do fit your description.
And, of course, there's a ton of drivers who will cut you off, blast past you with 2 inches to spare or honk and swear at you as you're passing another cyclist, all just for the sake of saving 6 seconds or beating you to the next light/line of cars.

What happened to the OP is extremely frustrating. I know if I had done something like that while on my bike, I'd own up to my mistake, so let's not lump all cyclists in one category!

I think we as riders have a lot in common with cyclists when it comes to vulnerability on the road.

P.S. I think a lot of frustrations on both sides would be solved with more bike lanes!

There are idiots in every group.
I've seen some cyclists put their life in mortal danger and wonder WTF??
I guess some ppl just don't think

Hell no. There's only so much road space available, especially downtown. Reserving more space for people who only use it 8 months a year is not the answer. And that argument that bicyclists reduce the number of cars on the road is a load of bunk since most city cyclists don't own cars or don't even have driving licenses.

yes their attitude is very rotten often times. Although when I see a cyclist walking their bike across an intersection I give them a thumbs up.

This one time I was driving in POURING HARD rain, the type that you have to crank your wipers to max and you can barely hear your music, and it was in the evening (dark). Anyways a bunch of us are at a red light and I'm waiting to turn right behind another right turning car. As the light turns green, this biker, having no reflective gear and wearing all black (i don't think he even had a helmet on). blows straight across the road and weaves between all of us (not even at the crosswalk...like 2 cars into the road). I barely saw him as he weaved in front of me and I had to stop. Like seriously? You're only putting your own life in danger (but of course if anyone hit him they'd be the ones in trouble).

Guys, don't make the same mistake that the OP did.. Don't be afraid to block traffic and make a citizen's arrest. Call the popo on the a-hole and stay there. If he tries to run, follow him. He damaged the OP's car and got away with it because the OP didn't wanna block traffic. OP do you think those people you let through are gonna help you pay for fixing that scratch? The cyclist committed an act of vandalism and he better be responsible for it.

It's not a bicyle thing.

There are idiots on the road using all forms of transportation.

I've noticed that people tend to drive with the same characteristics regardless of the method of transportation. Someone who drives their car like a jackass, will also ride a bike like a jackass, and vice versa.

It is a bit of a cyclist thing. I cycle most days and whenever I'm riding in a group I'm often just stunned at the lack of consideration and rational thought other cyclists display. It's not the blowing through stop signs (fine if there's no other traffic) or splitting between cars (no problem if remember the space can disappear in the blink of an eye). Things like riding in the middle of a lane slowly, or on and off the sidewalk without pause, or being so anally observant of the rules of the road that they're just a nuisance. There's just a general lack of common sense.

Then again, when I'm driving I see a ton of idiocy too so maybe it's kinda evenly spread around?

Bingo!! They just don't seem concerned about anything, they're just going about their business with a complete lack of any type of self preservation. I also totally agree they're a lot of idiots on the roads besides cyclist but from what i've seen the majority of them share the same mentality.

Cities have by laws requiring lights and they will get fined. On the news a few weeks back, toronto cops were issueing tickets to bicylists. Some of those tickets were 300 plus.

Calling the police would result in the op filling out an accident report. hmm, I wonder what his insurance will be quoted at when it comes up for renewel.

I got a $30 ticket once cause my headlight's battery had died mid-ride.
"You have no light"
"Yes, I do! Oh..."

Bam! Despite taking every precaution (front and rear lights, reflective strap, checked the lights before I started), I still got dinged with a ticket. The cop couldn't care less about whether I made all attempts to ride safely, he was there to give out tickets.
Still frustrated about that one!
