Guys, we missed the point. My question is regarding actually storing a bike in a storage unit rather than a parking spot.

This is a high end condo from where a 7 year old r6 was stolen from. The building is not doing anything to prevent it from re occuring

Actually they are doing something to keep it from reoccurring.
They don't want bikes in their "high end" condo therefore by doing little to nothing you are likely to move or not get another bike.
Problem solved on their end.

I would check your condo by-laws (like others have suggested). If there is a by-law that states that motor vehicles cannot be stored in lockers, then another route is through the board. Board's can change, revise, add by-laws (for the most part). You may have to go the political route and get other residents interested in your cause, so you can put pressure on your Board.

Or, you can always get elected as a Board member. May have greater influence that way. If money's not an object, may be worthwhile to see a lawyer that specializes in condos.

PS-My post's probably not that helpful...hope things work out for ya!

There appears to be of of property managers on here with extensive knowledge on Condos, anyone of you looking for a job, I need a declaration written ASAP for a condo I am building...

all jokes aside, you cannot park your bike or store anything flamible, corrosive , explosive , etc in a storage locker it is against condo rules in 99.9% of buildings , read the declaration and rules.

what you can do is write a request addressed to the board of directors and management asking to install a concrete bike lock post system into the ground of the garage at your expense , of they allow it just chain it and pray, otherwise you are just waiting for your bike to be taken away in a van. In the several buildings I manage all bikes were stolen by the same van in a matter of 2 days ... All at 10 am...if you live in a condo, be carefull how you park because theiefs will always find a way in despite 24 security and all the cameras in the world

I think he was trying to argue the fact that since it's an underground parking, there shouldn't have been said unauthorized persons in there in order to steal it.

OP, does your parking not have cameras? Mine is COVERED with cameras. I think it would be very difficult for someone to do that in mine.

Lol there's tons of theft of bikes with great footage from many angles in a condo of the bike being jacked. Camera s are not a big deterrent.

All those cameras pointed at your bike have absolutely nothing to do with why your bike is still there in the morning.

I already elaborated on why none have been stolen in my underground. Cameras is just a small detail.

The prices of these parking spots is ****ing ridiculous...for that much they should guarantee your bike doesn't get stolen.

what if you leave the bike between the wall and your car? Would they be able to steal the bike then? I am thinking of doing this since we have 2 vehicles but drive one at a time.

So....when you take the car to work the bike is guarded by......? lol
Bottom line is - if they want it, they'll take it.

i take ttc to work :). I am thinking of putting the summer car there during fall and winter, and the beater during summer. More protection, i guess?

Ultimately, someone who wants to steal your bike... will figure out a way to do so. The only thing you can really do is make it extremely inconvenient for them to the point where they'll leave yours alone.

it might be worth investigating if you can dig a hole in your spot, and secure your bike like below:

also the bolted down, orange semi-circle pipe in the picture might be another alternative

the chains/lock in the pictures look decent, i don't think a regular bolt cutter can chew threw it.
