Stolen bike registry

I feel for every single one of you peeps. Especially the guys who put time, money and sweat into modifying their bikes.

for all you peeps living in a condo, this is an absolute MUST. I live in a condo, and have this system, I know when someone is even near it. Tells me by texting me or emailing. I have even confronted an old lady who parked near my bike and swiped the mirrors with her purse lol. Never actually had an incident, but id get crazy msgs for proximity and am seriously paranoid. even reading these threads...

I do not own a bike yet but reading all these posts makes me kind of scared to own a bike.

Still looking for my 1975 Z1 stolen in 1977.:(

Blue with a Wirges exhaust.

Still burns my ***. It's a terrible feeling.

Parked at the side of your house in Burlington, uninsured?

(Rick, is that you?)

Wow. These thieves are scum.

Rather than proximity alarms, how about proximity explosives?

Oh sure, you'd lose the bike -- but after the first couple of these hit the news I'm sure the bike-jacking business would slow down a bit. :p

Some Brits developed something like that, a few years back, using the explosive paint markers that banks have in their cash drawers.

That's actually pretty funny. I wonder if something like that would be legal here. If some paint gets in the thief's eyes... or causes them to crash who would get in more trouble.

"Laying in wait", ie. setting traps, is against the Criminal Code. It would be sticky.

Since the domain is for sale, I figure the link can be removed from the original post.
Someone is making money everytime we visit the park page.

I'd hate to have my bike stolen. I feel for everyone who posted their lost rides. :(

Never thought I'd be posting here. My ride got stolen. Silver/Blue 2010 GSXR 600. Was locked up, chained, covered, deep in the recess of an underground parking lot where I live. I hope the cops find these guys before I do. It's insured.

Unbelieveable, what size of chain were you using and what was it locked up to?
It's crazy to think that nothing is/can be done about this epidemic.

Where abouts do you live? Maybe others in the area will be a little more observant
Camera footage?

Half-inch, I believe, they attacked both the chain and the lock itself, and they even took half the chain because they couldn't figure out how to remove it from the bike (I had it in a complex configuration). It was chained to a very thick and sturdy sewage pipe.

The theft occurred at a condo complex at Front/Spadina. There is security camera footage; I'll have to go down to the security desk and review it with them.

Now I'm dreading the bureaucratic nightmare that has begun, and my fat $1000 deductible.

Bright Side - at least it didn't happen half through the riding season and you'd have to wait for the month for the funds to be released to get a new bike and miss a lot of nice riding days. You have to be thinking "why get another bike if there is a good chance it will just get stolen"? Are you going to get another?

I remember another poster saying his bike was stolen from the same condo last year.

I believe I'll still be missing the same amount of time. It's just getting to the point where the weather is getting ridable...

It's not just one condo here, it's an entire condo complex, maybe 10 buildings in all.

Hey Viper,

can you confirm - did you have your bike chained to a pipe and they went through the chain? What brand was the chain?

I've had TWO bikes stolen from the underground in the City Place area... sad news is that the Police are going to do nothing about it. Did this JUST happen? I had a crappy season last year due to the back to back thefts, but I thought it would be okay this year. I'm very disappointed to think that may not be the case...

I'm just wondering how many bike have been stolen from City Place - it seems like a lot. I wonder if it's some sort of inside job? And with so many bikes being stolen from the same area, you'd think it should be pretty easy to find these thieves.

1) I had my bike chained to an invincible sewer pipe by a very thick nameless chain that mommy gave me some years ago.
2) They cut both the chain and the lock, they took the chain segment intertwined with my bike because they were too lazy/stupid to figure out how to de-convolute it.
3) This just happened. Two nights ago I went to wash my bike, and I did and my bike had a great time together. Last night (23 hours later) I go down to take care of something else, and it's gone, along with my cover, my lifts, etc.
4) I won't comment on City Place openly in general nor its security measures, for a variety of reasons.
5) I spent 6 hours with security reviewing every bit of security camera footage. I know every vehicle that entered and exited City Place within the specified time frames in question.

Viper, do you know how they cut the chain? Did they grind through it, use a bolt cutter?
