STOLEN - 2009 Kawasaki zx6r Monster Energy

Hi Guys,

Last week my '09 Kawasaki zx6r Monster Energy edition was stolen from my condo at Warden and Hwy 7. I've reported it to the police and my insurance company, but because I didn't install an alarm, my insurance company wouldn't give me fire and theft coverage. So my only way of recovering any of my investment is to recover the bike, otherwise I'm SOL.

Here are a few distinctive things about it:
  1. Paint scheme: there aren't that many monster energy editions out there
  2. Akroprovic exhaust: it had a full titanium piping with carbon fiber exhaust can
  3. HID headlights
  4. Plate delete: plate holder is mounted close to the center of the bike with small LED turn signals
  5. Hero cam velcro: on the right side there is a circular velcro mount for a camera also in black beside the monster logo

The bike was parked underground parking garage between my car and the wall, and went missing about a week ago. After reporting it to the police, the officer mentioned there were quite a few motorcycles stolen around this area recently. So anybody living around Warden and Hwy 7 area take extra precaution and do what you have to in order to get full coverage on your bike. Chaining it up is still one chain cutter away and a 2 second delay for them.

If you see this bike or pieces of this bike, please contact the police or me directly.

Thanks in advance,

Derek

Sorry bout your loss.. but seriously... i hope you learned something.

Sorry to hear about your loss, but if you think there arent that many monster editions around, your fooling yourself...Its actually very very popular, I own one, 2 more of my fiends own them as well. And just the other day while driving in Toronto I saw 3 on the road within a 20 min drive...

Condo + no chains/alarm + no insurance? Are you kidding me? Now your out of 9 Thousand.

Really sorry to hear man :(.

Yeah I learned my lesson alright, and hopefully other people out there can also learn the lesson without learning it the hardway

I'm not saying the monster edition was exclusive, but it was a limited production, so relatively it would be more rare relatively speaking.

No it wasnt limited production, it was just a special decal scheme that cost $200 more but you got a solo seat. There was no limited production other then it was only available in 09..

I wouild actually put money on there being more Monster editions out there then all the other colors available in 09...Not that it matters, but its a very very popular bike

Alright, thanks for the clarification. And thanks for helping me keep this thread on top of the list :p

****in sucks....

Your insurance company didn't give you fire and theft not for having an alarm? damn...ur SOL now...

Sorry are you saying you're with MM and they wouldn't give you Fire/Theft when you initially got the plan, or that you had it, and they denied your claim after the fact because you didn't have an alarm?

If he declared that an alarm is on the bike, when it wasn't ... then they have every right to deny coverage. Although I'm not sure how they can check now.

That being said, when I was with TD having an alarm installed was not mandatory.

I use Meloche Monnex also, and added insurance on my bike just this year in april, I too had to supply proof that I have purchased and installed an alarm before they would supply theft coverage for my Motorcycle.

Sorry for your loss, will keep a look out.....I usually don't see that many Kawi ZX6r Monsters out there in Toronto either.....I've only seen 2.

Last time I called them for a quote they said I would have to install an alarm in order to proceed with the policy.
Kind of a messed up situation though. Sorry for your loss OP, hopefully you will recover the bike, doubt it, but it's still a possibility.

Good Luck!

To clarify, when I initially got the plan, they would only provide full coverage when I installed an alarm, but they provided collision coverage. My claim is still "in progress", but I'm not expecting them to compensate me at this point.

How do they know that you didn't have an alarm on the bike when it was stolen? Did you admit to the fact that you had no alarm on the bike?
