It's a different policy, I would have had to call in and changed the policy and paid a different premium. How do they know that you didn't have an alarm on the bike when it was stolen? Did you admit to the fact that you had no alarm on the bike?

Because they aren't stupid enough to just take someone's word for it? There's a process involved, as someone else mentioned - I'm guessing copies of receipt for alarm & invoice for installation.
To clarify, when I initially got the plan, they would only provide full coverage when I installed an alarm, but they provided collision coverage. My claim is still "in progress", but I'm not expecting them to compensate me at this point.

Thanks for the reminder!
With TD Meloche Monnex. I have everything through them.
the former. That's interesting, I wonder if they only do that for certain classes of bikes (like ones that are stolen more often), or if it's a new policy for all bikes?
they demand that a ss have an alarm on it (they have an 'approved alarms' list) or they won't sell you theft insurance. just their policy.
sorry to hear about your loss.
the former.
You could say you installed the alarm yourself. Don't know if that would satisfy the insurance company though.
My condo requires a little radio-frequency trigger to get into the underground.
Guess what - no trigger? You cannot get out!
Therefore no thieves, they don't like the idea of not being able to exit whenever they want.
By the way, Gorilla alarm is inexpensive (~$200 bucks).
Notice you have full Akro titanium system, LoL, and no alarm...?
Priorities, brother, priorities - yours are messed up.
Ah well, no offense, sorry for your loss.

Thanks for stating the obvious. No one is freaking out, begging for sympathy and crying themselves to sleep at night over this. I fully admit I made a mistake, and already prepared to take the loss. However, I don't think my mistake forfeits my ability to ask the community to keep an eye and ear open if they happen to see my bike on the road. Let's keep perspective here, I'm not an 18 year old kid that borrowed mommy's money for something I couldn't afford. That being said, your offer to leave me $1000 on your driveway is appreciated, but you forgot to pm me your address. Thanks in advance. You HAVE to be kidding me?? Are we going to start reading about another million people who parked their UN-INSURED bikes in underground condo's and then say "Oh my God, how did this happen"? No offense dude, but anyone who does something so moronic, deserves this.I'm going to go out tonight and leave a $1000 bill at the end of my driveway, and when I come home from work tomorrow and its gone, I'm going to FREAK OUT and wonder "how did this ever happen". Common people..........be a little more "pro-active".
