How do they know that you didn't have an alarm on the bike when it was stolen? Did you admit to the fact that you had no alarm on the bike?

Because they aren't stupid enough to just take someone's word for it? There's a process involved, as someone else mentioned - I'm guessing copies of receipt for alarm & invoice for installation.

ya the dealership provides the alarm reciepts.

To clarify, when I initially got the plan, they would only provide full coverage when I installed an alarm, but they provided collision coverage. My claim is still "in progress", but I'm not expecting them to compensate me at this point.

That's interesting, I wonder if they only do that for certain classes of bikes (like ones that are stolen more often), or if it's a new policy for all bikes?

If he was dumb enough to admit it I will slap my face in a loud

You could say you installed the alarm yourself. Don't know if that would satisfy the insurance company though.

Thanks for the reminder!

With TD Meloche Monnex. I have everything through them.

they demand that a ss have an alarm on it (they have an 'approved alarms' list) or they won't sell you theft insurance. just their policy.
sorry to hear about your loss.

the former.

My condo requires a little radio-frequency trigger to get into the underground.
Guess what - no trigger? You cannot get out!
Therefore no thieves, they don't like the idea of not being able to exit whenever they want.
By the way, Gorilla alarm is inexpensive (~$200 bucks).
Notice you have full Akro titanium system, LoL, and no alarm...?
Priorities, brother, priorities - yours are messed up.
Ah well, no offense, sorry for your loss.

I think the above is accurate. Im with TD Meloche Monex and I have full coverage. They asked me if my bike has an alarm but it wasn't manditory. Could be becuse my bike is only a 250R and worth less than $5,000...

damn... I'd go to a bike shop and hope they'd be willing to write me up a back dated receipt for an alarm install.
blah blah blah fraud schmaud.

does this radio freq thing really stop the theft? If so, why isnt that common for all condos?

If he bought his bike brand new in 09, the Akra was most likely free with the promo from Kawi. You had your choice of an Akra Evo, Braking wheels and rotors, Ohlins rear shock, or Attack rearsets and track bodywork...

I doubt he forked out $2200+ for it, he most likely got it free with the purchase of the bike like most of us that have the EVO system on our 09 ZX6R's

insurance company wants 2 motorcycle keys (in case you left one in the ignition) & the alarm key fob when you report your bike stolen.

Re. theft coverage; I called TD Meloche Monnex for a quote on a 2005 Suzuki C50 and they said I would need an alarm in order to get theft coverage as well.

So maybe it's not just SS bikes...?

If you bought a used bike with an approved alarm on it, how would you prove that you had an alarm? would the alarm fob suffice? pictures of it on installed on the bike?

You HAVE to be kidding me?? Are we going to start reading about another million people who parked their UN-INSURED bikes in underground condo's and then say "Oh my God, how did this happen"? No offense dude, but anyone who does something so moronic, deserves this.I'm going to go out tonight and leave a $1000 bill at the end of my driveway, and when I come home from work tomorrow and its gone, I'm going to FREAK OUT and wonder "how did this ever happen". Common people..........be a little more "pro-active".
Thanks for stating the obvious. No one is freaking out, begging for sympathy and crying themselves to sleep at night over this. I fully admit I made a mistake, and already prepared to take the loss. However, I don't think my mistake forfeits my ability to ask the community to keep an eye and ear open if they happen to see my bike on the road. Let's keep perspective here, I'm not an 18 year old kid that borrowed mommy's money for something I couldn't afford. That being said, your offer to leave me $1000 on your driveway is appreciated, but you forgot to pm me your address. Thanks in advance.

Join date of Aug 10 and you slept ok knowing your bike was parked in condo parking uninsured? This is not the first thread like this, this year. At first I thought it was a joke. With a post count of 10, that's a 1000 dollars per post. If he was paying attention to GTAM he probably would still have his bike.
