Govt deposit normally occurs at the end of the following month. For a Feb deposit, I expect govt money at the end of march. They don't always follow that pattern but they do most of the time. Now, if QT hasn't filed the paperwork, I don't know when the trigger is for the gov't so if they do it tomorrow, you might get match at end of april.I love QT but be damned if it's not frustrating....
- 16-Feb - deposit money into daughter's RESP
- 17-Feb - money received by QT
- 28-Feb - call QT and ask 'where's the money?' 'Oh...we received it on the 17th, but due to the backlog right now we haven't gotten around to depositing it into your account'
Takes 7-9 weeks for them to receive the Gov't 20% to deposit into the account.
@mimico_polak January deposit of my money to RESP resulted in Feb 28 deposit of gov't money as expected. It wasn't there yesterday but is there today with yesterdays date.Govt deposit normally occurs at the end of the following month. For a Feb deposit, I expect govt money at the end of march. Thanks. Good to know. I dropped the money into my daughter's account yesterday, and bought VGRO today.@mimico_polak January deposit of my money to RESP resulted in Feb 28 deposit of gov't money as expected. It wasn't there yesterday but is there today with yesterdays date.
I am >99% sure it is calendar years. The date of their birth doesn't matter. I have deposited before their birthdays or after depending on when I had the money, no apparent difference.Thanks. Good to know. I dropped the money into my daughter's account yesterday, and bought VGRO today.
So just so I'm clear....son's bday is Feb, daughter is June...can I drop $2500/each at the beginning in January? Or do I have to wait until the end of their actual birthdays?
Sounds good. This confirms it, but it wasn't that easy to find....I am >99% sure it is calendar years. The date of their birth doesn't matter. I have deposited before their birthdays or after depending on when I had the money, no apparent difference.
Not intentionally but it hasn't hurt.Morals aside. Anyone else gambling with stocks affected by the war?
Only thing I have related to war is ESLT and I have held it for 13 years. Very few short-term holds for me. As for trying to time buys based on the tide of war, that seems like most other timing schemes and is on the road to tears.Morals aside. Anyone else gambling with stocks affected by the war?
I have nothing directly related to war but my energy holdings are very strong. I try and take a long view I had vet when it was at 25 before the virus and couldn't pass up the deal at 3 and change. My best investment by far and I should have put more in.Only thing I have related to war is ESLT and I have held it for 13 years. Very few short-term holds for me. I have also been building my losses on lspd I doubled down today will see if I just dumped good after bad.One of my best performers / most consistent has been VGRO...but I'm also not playing the individual stocks as often as the big players around here.
So once again, TLDR...how do you guys find your picks?
I'm mostly on hold with LSPD. I was adding when I was down 30%. Out of money to add until May when some dividends come in.I have also been building my losses on lspd I doubled down today will see if I just dumped good after bad.
