Star Wars - The Force Awakens ****SPOILERS!!!!*****

Re: StarWars Thread - SPOILER ALERT !!!!

SPOILER ALERT, DO NOT READ IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW..

So we can freely discuss this movie.

I grew a up a huge StarWars fan. Sure this movie had action but I felt they changed the whole movie into a modern teen action movie like "divergent" and threw in some StarWars for flavour. It wasn't "Star Wars " to me.

1. You have a janitor who picks up a light sabre and fights Kylo Ren who is an elite user of the force

2. Ray discovers she has the force and within a day is using mind control and telekinesis, which took Luke Skywalker four years to learn.

3. How does Ray understand wookie? No one spoke wookie.

4. Those creatures eat everyone else but decide to just carry Finn in their hands.

5. What's with Finn acting like Chris Rock at times, just because he is black they have to do this? Lando Calarisian never did that

6. Why was chewy, Rae, Finn standing there and watching Kylo on the cat walk? They did not know he was solo's son and had a perfect opportunity to shoot him.

There is more but I just wanted to give an idea. Let the discussion begin.

"If i was educated, I'd be a damn fool"

1. I felt like Kylo Ren was playing with Finn to some extent. Plus maybe Rey (Ray? Rae?) being present further messed with his mojo on top of him being injured.

2. In the extended universe Luke Skywalker was some kind of super Jedi... remember when Rey touched the lightsaber she hears the words "these are the first steps"? Maybe that was also some kind of compressed latent Jedi crash course

3. Uhhhhhh **** why did you have to point that out. I guess Ray is super good at everything because the Force?

4. Maybe the others weren't dead yet but just packed away in the cheeks like a chipmunk, and Finn is the extra peanut? They did still give the impression that death was very imminent

5. Welllllllllllll IDK. About the best I can do is that they were worried about playing him as a super straight-up serious stormtrooper dude (aka Obi-Wan in Episode I). I do kinda wonder how he survived stormtrooper training/"programming", I could stand to have his backstory fleshed out a bit

6. Solo's body language still would have said a lot, plus Kylo still has that Sith intimidation to draw on. How was Chewy able to shoot him with his lightsaber though? He clearly didn't give a **** about blaster shots earlier in the movie

Re: StarWars Thread - SPOILER ALERT !!!!

6) look like a long distance to snipe away, and again, it is a story, not all things will be done the way we think they should.

Oh yeah, that's a good point. Would have a pretty decent chance of hitting Han at that range

Re: StarWars Thread - SPOILER ALERT !!!!

darker then this one, or i thought so.

I kinda agree with you on that one. Vader, and even the Empire itself, was this intimidating mysterious force. Clearly everyone was scared ******** of Vader (or they got dead) and the Empire suprised everyone with this super evil superweapon.

Kylo Ren is more, uh, conflicted? And the baby general guy who is the face of the new First Order is not even remotely intimidating, AND the super big bad ultra Death Star planet is not a new trick anymore. The super elite stormtrooper lady is a zero trick pony as she does nothing on screen... on the other hand, there were more first hand moments of stormtroopers being competent. Like the opening moments, or when they show up to come after Rey.

Hang on, I just remembered drifting the Millennium Falcon I need to go lie down

Re: StarWars Thread - SPOILER ALERT !!!!

Kylo Ren can be considered an elite force user based on his opening scene. The dude froze a blaster laser beam and held it for a very long time whilst just walking around talking casually. For most force users it takes a great deal of concentration picking up and throwing objects???

I know people are getting pissy that Kylo Ren was beaten quite easily but you have to look at the visual clues why he did not do so well in the final battle. He was shot in the leg by a blaster, even before Finn and Rey fought him in the end there were shots of his bleeding leg, but obviously a lot of people did not pick up on it.........

1) I don't think Kylo Ren is an elite user of the force. They said he left Luke Skywalkers training, so did not finish and the new main villain even says he needs to come and finish his training.

2) I agree, that will take some serious back story explaining and hopefully just not a simple "she is a skywalker"

3) how does anyone understand the droids?? It is a star wars movie, need to over look all that stuff in my opinion

4) Again, a star wars movie, need to take it for what it is. Not really sci fi, more like action in space.

5) Not sure how he acted like Chris Rock, I enjoyed the character, seemed like a child away from home and scared and learning how to cope

6) look like a long distance to snipe away, and again, it is a story, not all things will be done the way we think they should.

Picked up on that.

But if you can so easily stop a blaster laser shot, and control other people's bodies, his control of Luke's old lightsaber should've been a breeze. At this point, it makes it look like Kylo's experience at "war" is ****.

Now of course she was a good fighter with her lance, and im pretty sure Finn had some stormtrooper training (although he wasn't the best, please refer to his fight vs another stormtrooper)
But that's a totally different weapon, with different balance and what not. I'd like to think the force can only take you so far.

I found "the force" wasn't event referenced much. It was more like each character was a superhero with assumed powers.

The characters lack depth because they were busy paying homage to the original flicks.

It was good entertainment. A suppose there was a lot of things left for the next film?

You look at the original and new films, the battles were much more stylish, bad ass evil against the underdog good guys.

Remember, at this point even the events of "Return of the Jedi are considered myth and folklore. Very few people believed in The Force in the time of the original movies and now, with the last known Jedi Knight gone off to some hermit's mountain, it's all just stories.

It gives me a headache to try and read your crap. If this is supposed to be cute it isn't. If this is yetti, I am sure you can come up with a better character

I know Rob. With the death of Yoda and Vader in VI, there isn't much else.......those films had Ben,
Yoda and Vader interacting with Luke so, the force was something that tied them together.

This film there is a gap in time and the reference to Luke training Kylo and lose him to the dark side and Luke leave and sulk in his failure. Still a whiney *****. lol. Kidding.

The more I think about the whole thing, I kinda think the Empire and constant need to build a Death Star gets a bit old. You would think they would go with a different strategy to rule?????

I think the movie captures some of magic from the original movies and fits right in with the franchise.

Can we really expect it to have any authentic or realism? It's Star Wars!!!

Sometimes I just have to get over myself. Lol.

Btw, my kid thought it was boring and didn't like there was no Darth Vader. Lol. He's 7 and we didn't watch the other movies before going.

My step sons kept asking me about Luke. They didn't go with me because they wanted to go with their dad.

I was thinking those boys are gonna be upset that Luke was only in the final scene........lol. They are 12 and 9. They came back and told me they loved it!

So my Star Wars movie critic career plans are on hold. Gonna have to stick with making the donuts.

Well theres an obvious reason why Mark Hamill was NOT in any trailer.

People thought he'd gone to the dark side before the movie came out and JJ was keeping it as a surprise.. maybe he's working on his mastery of the force without weapons or anything else? I just don't know what to expect next. And so the wait begins

Lmao. I'm surprised it took someone so long to call out that poster.

I was going to as well; no one called him out for spelling Leia as Laya either.

I get what they're going for with Kylo Ren because they have to top Darth Vadar. Anakin's transformation in the prequels was butchered. With Kylo, at least you can see he's full of rage and shows a human side for a split second before stabbing his dad. I'm assuming they purposely constructed him as an emo character with no back story, will expand the back story in episode 8 to hopefully justify his actions and character.

...but for now, he should've left his mask on cause now we can't unsee the angsty whiny teen behind the mask.

I don't see it that way...see ...i think he just faked tears to buy time and to trick. He did wait until the light from the sun faded (therefore it was too late to save anyone). At best, if he was being honest and "wanted help" it was to cut the ombilical cord tied to his dad to fully embrace the dark side. And now he's "beyond saving"

And yeah, the convenient hole in the planet at that exact spot was kinda corny but oh well.

with my warmestest heart and feelings :toothy4:, i say: that was pointe, my darlin! :happy2: writer wanted show how cunflicted he was and sooo easilly can switch betweens Ben & Hunky Kilo by taking his masck on and off so many times, and so easilly! :brilsmurf::crybaby: tis idea of mask & loyality even reinfforced at beggining of mobie when black guy repremanded by Silver Shinny Girl STORUMTROUPER for takin off masck. NUT ONLY that, but HUNKY KILO even takes off mask to his prisonner, the GIRL when she cumplained about mask.

my warmestests to u too :angel5:, i say: i tink those tears were REAL. thrughout mobvie he shown cunflicted. he was feeling those Feelings. BUT also writers usuing TRICK TOO to build suspence! notice that HUNKY KILO even had to ASK HAN if HUNKY KILO can sacryfice him! :tongue1::glasses9: if hunkyness KYLO was so sure of himsellf, than he do nut need to ask!

the princesses Laya may have sucky force skills! BUT, she right there some LIGHT in him and this will continues, iam sure! :bunny:

I think the tears were real and the whole light fading was just for dramatic purposes and symbolism (all the light in his heart was erased, la dee da, dark side, sith, etc. ********).

But Sith training does have stuff to do with killing your loved ones....and your master.

I wonder if he'll end up killing Snoke and get an apprentice.

EDIT:

Actually, who the **** is Snoke?! The rule of two states that only two Sith exist at any given time. Both died in RoTJ so there goes that rule....
