Some else deserves this parking ticket

Left work today and got a scare. Walked to where I left my bike this morning and didn't see it between any of the cars. At first I thought someone stole it, but when I crossed the street I realized what had happened.

Some ******* moved my bike! I'm not sure if some cars shuffled and he thought I was too far away and taking up too much space, of if he was just an *******, but someone(s) rolled my bike back onto the sidewalk. The steering was locked, so it ended up parallel to the road.

Not only that, but when I finally got to it, I found a $60 parking ticket for parking on the sidewalk.

Has this ever happened to anyone? I have always been concerned about people stealing my bike, or ****ing with it, but not illegally parking it while I was away.

Assuming I go in and fight it with nothing but my word, what do you think my chances are of getting it dropped? I took a photo when I found it, but I don't have one for where I left it so not sure what that'll be good for. I'm thinking of going into the building I was in front of to see if they have security footage, but I don't know if they even have cameras, if they captured anything, or if they'll give it to me.

A couple of years back, I moved someones bike on Church St by Ryerson. It was towing time so I decided to save the guys headache. However, I moved it by the building (private property) where the parking enforcer had no legal right to issue a ticket.
Later I found the owner of the bike on this forum and he was grateful.

So in this case the intent was good but the execution was bad.

Try to get any video to show where you parked.

Who ever did that is a piece of work... I really hope they drop the ticket..

Hope it works out for you man.

Frequently, in Toronto, parking tickets seem to be cancelled just because you spend the 4+ hours in line to have it done. Phone parking control and see what they say.

Thanks. I noticed there is a camera inside the building filming the front entrance, and possibly out onto the street right where my bike was. I talked to the front desk of the building and they seemed very happy to help. They said there is a guy in charge of the cameras in at 3pm, so I'll go in after work and see if I can get something.

Curious to see the video of them moving it.

what a ******, next time if you know a tow truck driver have his car moved to a no parking zone see how he likes it lol

Was it by any chance parked on Portland just north of King ST.
Walked past there yesterday during lunch saw Bike parked legally on the road. Came back half hour later to see bike on sidewalk and a 20 foot delivery truck parked where bike was off loading his load.

Really sucks man.

Actually south of King on Portland (I'm guessing that's what you meant). Black and Gray GS500F, a lot like this one:

That's even harder to swallow. I guess he just needed the spot to make the delivery, but couldn't be bothered putting the bike back when he was done. Shouldn't have touched it in the first place. Hopefully I can get that footage. On the bright side it will be easier to call his boss and make a complaint than it will be to do anything that would affect someone driving their own car.

Dude...your GS doesn't have lowered handle bars does it...?

YAYYYYYYY!! Glad it's still alive =D

Sucks about some jackass moving it though =/

That would piss me off too. No one has any business touching my bike. If you can't park in a spot because of a car then the same is true of bikes. Suck it up and park some place else.

Yes exactly it was south of King. Sorry wasn't thinking should have taken pics of the delivery truck.
Good luck if it helps it was around 12:30 when the truck was parked there. If there are camera's this is the time of day to look at.

My thoughts exactly. I'm thinking about getting one for two of these. I don't imagine it's anything that would keep a bike from being stolen, but it would make it harder for something like this to happen again. http://bit.ly/14zgN25

Get one of the disk locks that has a built in motion sensing alarm, so that a person trying to move your bike is immediately put on notice.

That might just bang against your caliper when they try to move it and do more damage.
Like leaving the bike in gear, they'll roll it, get freaked when it stops moving and drop the bike.

Can't win.

That's amazing, I've never heard of such a thing, but I will definitely have a look.
