Solution to the homeless problem.

We are getting pretty close to the point here when some of the homeless hang around at road junctions with signs saying “need fare to BC”.
Hmmm. I haven’t carried cash for a few years.

Maybe time to reinstate the wad.

Did the morons in Texas and Arizona not see any recent photos of the tent city that is downtown LA?

Texas and Arizona know. They want to dump the same stuff on NYC to get Bidenites to back off on the open border idea.

It's about the only thing where Trump had the right idea but handled it wrong.

My house has doors with locks. Immediate family have keys and are always welcome for as long as they want. Extended family is welcome for a while. Workers are allowed in as needed and leave when their job is finished.

What about third world immigrants?

I sympathize with them but we can't overload the lifeboat and it takes time to build more lifeboats. Politicians are lousy boat builders.

There's a reason why homelessness is a bigger problem in TX and AZ vs NYC - and that's climate. Same reason why Vancouver and the Okanagan Valley is Homeless Central in Canada.

Homelessness is a year-round affliction and you don't freeze to death in January in San Antonio or Phoenix. Or Vancouver or Kelowna...

No homeless person is going to willingly accept a bus ticket from TX to NYC.

I don’t think i

That is true. I lived in SoCal for 10 years, you don’t even need a tent.

But weather is not a deterrent. Timmins is a cold as FortMac in the winter. I’ve seen zombies stagger around downtown without shoes at -40. Some without toes or fingers.

Community, easy access to drugs, and social services are magnets… it’s not just the sun.

I have a cousin in Yellowknife. Yup. They have druggies and the homeless.

There was a line from Jack Nicholson's character in Five Easy Pieces when some chick he was hitting on said she liked Alaska because it was so white and pure. He relied "It melted."

There once was an Alberta Premier named Ralf Cline.
He was a beer drinking good old boy and was much loved by everyone
except the NDP who could not get enough votes in Alberta for official party status.
At an outdoor address to his loving followers Ralf was heckled by a homeless person
who claimed he would be much better off financially in the Socialist state of British Columbia.
Ralf's response was to say if the man showed up at this location tomorrow he would be given a free one way bus ticket to Vancouver.
The heckler showed up with a great following of the press to see Ralf renege on his promise.
Ralf's second in command and political adviser presented the heckler with a one way bus ticket to Vancouver
to the dismay of the press and Ralf's critics.
The premier of BC never spoke to Ralf Cline again until his dying days.

THE END

I wonder about duplicity. All three levels of government are slinging cash at the problem with little results.

In reality our Bill of Rights says a Canadian can move to wherever they want. Toronto to Halifax, Regina to Vancouver etc.

Their mobility makes it impossible for municipalities or provinces to cope. The homeless can morph from being Torontonians to Montrealers or Vancouverites. It only makes sense that the problem be totally controlled and funded by the federals. A handful of liaison personnel from the provinces and municipalities would keep a local eye on things.

Each government spends money with few results and has the option of blaming the others. Put the mess in one set of hands, eliminate the duplication and ability to use smoke and mirrors. It's your job. Do it.

Yeah the Constitution probably says we can't.

Gov of Canada ought to make some communal land available to the population looking for a free ride.

Want welfare forever? Gotta go 1hr north of Sudbury.

I asume 1hr north of Sudbury is not in your neighbourhood!!
