How much track time do you actually get for the fees between practicing and races? It's not exactly clear on the RACE/SOAR websites
On SOAR:
Saturday:
You practice Saturday Morning from 9am to 11am aprox - 3 groups so you are on track on a rotation.
Fom 11 to aprox 2 are the Qualifying races so depending on how many classes you entered you are racing for aprox 8 laps.
from 3 to 6 is the endurance race: The best way to get laps and be on track. You can make a team of 2 or 3 or 4 members and you race for 3 hours no stop (unless a red flag) - it costs approximately 220 divided among all team members
Sunday:
Again Practice from 9 to 11
Races start at 11 and go to aprox 4/5 pm depending on how many people decide to go bush waking.
Approximately 12 laps depending of configuration and depending of how many classes.
I have also done RACE but they are different, Instead of Qualifying races they do (in some classes) a timed qualifying for grid position MotoGP style, but some classes do a qualifying race - It is a little confusing for me so I will let others that spend more time there explain.
I have raced a 250 while recuperating from an injury and you should just go for it, if you are trying to get better and have a lot of fun you can't go wrong. If you have good corner speed you can make up the difference in speed in the straight vs a 300 etc.
Breakdown in expenses:
It wasn't my bike but I believe he ran 2 sets of tires for the entire season including endurance races.
Gas was a non factor - Probably not even a tank a day. One refill for the entire endurance race if I remember correctly. But for sprint racing probably a tank a day IF!
So - One time purchase of 150 for the license
Aprox 130 per class, the more classes you enter the lower the price per class goes
If you do a Friday practice day is about 150 I think and it runs like a track day (a fast one)
