So who has the best cell plan ??

I pay $47.60 after all fees and taxes for:

300 anytime (currently 1250 mins, why? because rogers works in funny ways)
Unlimited after 6
Unlimited Incoming
100 LD mins
2500 texts
call display/name display, enhanced vm
call forwarding
6GB of data

If you travel outside of Ontario, Bell's network seems to be the best coverage. Most of my business partners have Roger's and I'm generally the only guy taking care of business via email and voice. Especially in Altantic Canada. Bell seems to be the only game in town for cell towers.

Sorry, can't help from a cost perspective.

How did you manage to get that plan? I called them last year and they told me that there is no way in the world that I can get this plan under $50. Corporate plan?

Luck and negotiation skills. I got this plan after being with them for 3 years (upon contract expiry). Getting them to honour the contract was a different story. I had to talk to the Office of the President to review the voice recordings of our contract negotiations which is the only proof they have of the contract. Upon review of the voice recordings they honoured the contract. I spent hours on the phone and had basic contract and consumer protection law knowledge which helped a lot.

Recently they invoiced me for paper billing. I called them and told them howthat I never agreed to a change in my contract and now have an extra $2 credit for that for a total of $50 in monthly credits.

First level reps of Rogers are usually useless with helping you with anything.

150 mins
unlim evenings and weekends 6pm-8am
unlim pic/vid texts
callerid/voicemail
unlimited Canada to canada/us/international texts

no data :(

$25 tax in :)

OP, if you're looking for a lot of mins/texts/data for $50, going for a new company probably won't be the best route to go unless its under a group plan, or you're willing to sacrifice reliable service by going with Wind (although I heard their "Wind Zones" have expanded a lot since last year - I still hear a lot of complaints from friends with Wind about bad reception and dropped calls). Its usually best to bargain with the current company you're with and talk them down.

Google "Bell Thunder Bay plan" and find the redflagdeals links.

Unlimited everything (calling coast to coast from anywhere, voicemail, texting, pic messages, etc etc)
6GB of data
$50 +tax.

Even though it's strictly offered to residents of Thunder Bay, there's a loophole in the system if you call them up, to get this plan. RFD has more info.

If this is your primary phone and required for business, don't waste time with the discount brands (WIND, Mobilicity, Public, etc) as the savings/mth aren't worth some dead spots that still exist. Bell/Rogers/Telus (unfortunately) are the only game in town.

Rogers $60 all in
Unlimited calling canada wide
Unlimited text
Call dispaly
Voice mail
3gb data

I have the same. The "Unlimited" text is not that unlimited as per the fine print. Maxes out at 2,500 messages.
Damn Rogers.

Spoke to bell earlier, they told me the fraud division is investigating everyone outside of thunder bay that is not supposed to have it :(

Rogers Corp350 plan. Hurry this ends at the end of the month by the way and it's open to federal and provincial government employees (teachers, CRA, etc etc etc) and family members sometimes if you're lucky with the CSR. This is $50 for 5GB data, 350 anytime minutes, 250 long distance minutes, unlimited texts, free local rogers to rogers (might be national need to check), basic voice mail and there may be more, not sure. Call to the business line of Rogers and make sure you have an MSD number and a rootban number for your place of work (get this from either HR or your corporate rep). You may also need proof of employment.

Edit: Here's the info you need http://forums.redflagdeals.com/roge...chers-hosp-icbc-etc-ends-jun-30-13-a-1348627/

Might take a bit to sort this out on the phone but it's worth it IMHO.

Edit#2. Why would you take advantage of this if you have a similar plan with negotiated discounts? Ans. Because this plan needs no negotiation and discounts can and will be removed as they vanish from marketed plans.

I had Rogers, then switched to Wind a couple of years ago. I was taking the Go Bus Express Hamilton <=> Toronto on a daily basis (switched jobs recently, so I don't commute anymore). For a year and a half on my commute, almost never had a problem watching YouTube videos in HD on my phone, I even bought a tablet and was tethering the connection. There is a dead spot on the Gardiner at some point, but it's just there and lasts about a minute. For some reasons with Rogers I had big problems at the office downtown (Yonge & Richmond), could not even make calls sometimes and was rarely receiving calls (most would go to voicemail automatically)---didn't have this problem with Wind. So I guess it's a hit and miss---for my locations, Wind was better than Rogers by a long stretch! Oh, and the wind is unlimited everything (including calling the USA) for $40/month, while I used to pay $75 to Rogers for limited data and minutes.

voice and text are next to obsolete nowadays thanks to large data plans...

unfortunately, no telco will provide a data only plan. so even if u get unlimited voice and text for $20 (which is what i have, plus a $30 dollar 6 gig data plan), it may appear to be a bargain but in reality, they are really just tacking on extra stuff that isn't essential nowadays.

If you stay in the city, you usually get good reception with Wind, but once you start heading out to the country side, you're off the grid.

Well, you're just not in your 'home' zone.

Outside of the Wind zone (Which goes West to Niagara Falls/Hamilton, East to Oshawa, North to Barrie and everywhere in between) you're roaming on the Rogers network. Wherever Rogers has coverage, so do you. It just sets you back $0.20/min if you call or get a call from someone, and $0.15/text to send (free to receive).

Considering their most popular phone plan is $30, in the span of a year, that's 400-500$ savings relative to what you would pay with Big3 for similar services.

It's not for everyone, but if it works for you, it's a great solution.

attached is a screenshot of my bell bill ... it says 'corporate' but really isn't ... this was a plan i started with years ago and i just keep phoning every 3 years saying 'i might leave, give me something' so they gave me all this promotional stuff that its just not worth leaving anymore LOL !!!

both look like good plans, are they still available?

I signed up back in March. You can switch your plan anytime without any fees... but that promotion is expired. It's basically the $50/month plan with $5 off.

Keep an eye on the plan list, every month or two they'll reduce $5-10 off the regular priced plan as a promotion.
