So who has the best cell plan ??

So after 4 years of having a work cell, I will be changing jobs and will no longer have a "free to me" phone.

I am now looking for an iPhone (4s or 5) with a cell plan? (not interested in any other phone )
I will need unlimited texting, lots of talk minits, and lots of data...
Hoping to keep the monthly bill around $50+ tax ? (is this reasonable?)

Thanks for your help :)

Me!!! its free

...work pays for it

We have I think the highest rates in the world, good luck getting all that for $50

I have a $25 250 minute gov plan and a 30 dollar unlimited data plan. However the data plan is not offered anymore.

If you get a good plan make sure to hang on to it

Hey Darren. How ya been bud? I understand the need for a smartphone for business, but i can't get around the monthly fees some folks pay.I carry a 10 yr old Samsung pay per use in case i need caa or something.I think i pay about $100/year.
ScubaSteve is really good at finding good deals with this kinda stuff.

Cya @ Mosport?

I dont think for $50 that is unreasonable.... i think with rogers or bell you can get something along those lines with 2gb of data for $50.
I have the $60-60gb superplan but they dont offer that anymore.

Take the cheapest plan (200mg) which is 50 bucks and add more data to it

While "unlimited", Wind's coverage in the GTA is intermittent at best. More so, their unlimited internet is so painfully slow, that I doubt that anyone can even use it for media viewing, etc.

Fido has the cheapest plans, period. I pay $56 for unlimited minutes, international texts, Canada wide long distance, 2 GB of data voice mail, call waiting and all of that other junk. LTE network is so fast, I don't even use my WiFi anymore so the battery life is way better too. They use the Rogers network, which I believe is the biggest in Canada, so you have awesome reception anywhere you go.

I think the plan is still offered but with only 1 GB of data.

Good luck with getting a decent plan for under 60 bucks. I pay 60 bucks plus fees which works out to just under $70. That includes a $30 voice plan which includes 300 daytime minutes, unlimited minutes after 6 pm on weekdays and all day on weekends, voicemail, and call display. Then I got a $30 data plan which gives me 6 gb's of data which is more than I could ever use.

This is with Rogers. Unfortunately it also is a plan from 3 years ago as of June 30th. Plans have gone up in price with less features since then. Sorry to break it to you.

My plan with Bell is something like $75+tax:

288 daytime
unlim weekends + after 6
unlim txt
unlim data
unlim nhl
voicemail
call display
etc

Damn! I have this same plan, with Bell, for $45.

Mine was supposed to be closer to $45, when I spoke to the retention department before renewing they told me the voice portion of the plan would be free. After I renewed it turned out the rep never bothered to put that on...

To top that off, bell is now telling me that there is nothing they can do. Retentions is doing nothing, and to quote them "cannot offer you anything".

I'm with Telus since way back when as Clearnet. I need the coverage outside of the GTA and the long distance plan, so I decided against one of the smaller carriers.

Current plan w/ iPhone is $63/month +tax

2GB data/month - more than enough for my needs
Unlimited nationwide long distance
Unlimited anytime minutes
Unlimited texting
Call Display
Voicemail
etc....

I'm very happy with this plan.

Check RFD forums, Hot Deals section. One thread for each local service provider - 100s of pages for each, describing best available plans currently available.

I have a similar plan on Rogers. I pay $20 taxes in.

Rogers has a $17 retention plan ($17+ whatever that 2.50 fee they call nowadays + tax), but it doesn't have data in it. I have that plan, but I'm still paying 20 bucks for 500mb, they better give me a good deal next month, or I am done with them (after 14 years).
