Looks like the forums were down for about 24 hours

We ran out of sponsorship money for higher bandwidth.

Head on over and put some money Into that tip jar.

I don't think we would be up and running that quickly if we were hacked.

Question is.
What did everyone do with their spare time?

Thanks for the reminder, simply done with PayPal. Took 2 minutes.

I was kept busy clicking on the icon to see if the site was back up.
Nah, I went for a long walk and got rained on.

I have several other forums to fill the void..spent time on Stromtrooper, Rationalia, reading, TV series and streaming music. No end of media to consume. :D
You getting another V-Strom? Can't call it a Wee anymore, if it's 800cc.

Probably a payment issue, that message gets used as a catch all by many hosts. Their host, liquidweb offers 10tb for the basic package. I’d guess a few gigs would do for GTAMs monthly traffic.

Yeah some hosts are be arsholes, and will do an immediate shutdown of services if it goes over account usage, or hits some other trigger. And most likely is automated and happens when no human can put eyes on it and make a proper decision.

I do remember it happening once within the last 2-3 years. I don't think it was for as long as this outage.
Maybe Sunday night of a weekend didn't help speed things up.

Is this the official answer, or just speculation?
That's above my pay grade to answer those questions officially.

Not sure, but I don't think it really matters all that much.

Although I did miss you guys. lol

Wouldn't there be an EWS as the threshold is approached vs. a limit shut down?
Perhaps throttle activity at the Early Warning, sort the issue out and then restore full functionality?

(Apologies, I know that hindsight is always easier)

Life is better on two wheels!

Maybe there was? Not sure how much hands-on time they spend on GTAM these days.

Assuming it was an actual bandwidth limit hit (as opposed to that message being used for some other issue), maybe some crawler kept downloading ad pics and the time between approaching and past wasn't long. I didn't see a hosting plan for less than 2 TB and most of them were 10+ so I doubt we legitimately ran out of bandwidth due to normal usage (unless we are on a grandfathered plan with lower limits).

If it was a payment issue, I get lots of emails about my domains expiring and I need to pay. 99.9999% of them are spam (many well-formatted). Your brain gets tired of filtering and just assumes they are all spam.
