Small pick up to carry a bike?

shake my head. I tell him he's an idiot and that truck is literally reducing his retirement fund by $1M and he does it anyway. Oh well, you can give people information but you can't make them make good decisions. He is a few years younger and the "need" to have things now has him circling the drain on the net worth game. At this rate, barring an external cash injection (inheritance or lottery) he will never be able to retire. When he stops working, he needs to stop eating.

It wasn't Toyota's fault the terrorists used Hilux trucks. The trucks were just that good. Could you imagine trying to take over the world using a Dodge truck? You'd need the wealth of a middle east oil producing nation just to keep the trucks running.
Just like it's not Colt's fault everyone that shoots up a school uses an AR... it because the AR is just a superior weapon.

Is that Python reference? I'm missing it.
Topgear guys put a Hilux on-top of a hi rise building and blew it up. It ran after!

Hey no problem with the Hilux here. I'd buy one. As for terrorists, just cause they fly a particular plane into a building doesn't mean I won't board one. ( As an aside anyone else here think the Boeing Max is likely about the safest plane going now, after the big review?)

The max might be good but I would be concerned about every other turd they make. Their culture has obviously shifted to bean counting over engineering and safety. They would prefer to suppress issues rather than fixing them.

I can get 26mpg out of my Taco if i drive like a senior. It's a2.6l four banger.
I've been looking at these now. It's not crazy high so getting a small bike in with a ramp looks not too bad. Have you had bikes in the back or do you trailer?

To get a Tacoma in the 10-15k price range it needs to have 400000km and no body left lol.

Two trials bikes fit no problem. I've had a Duc and a trials bike with a bit of finesse. My daughter's have used it more than i have. Lol

No, the 737 Max is an inherently unstable plane as the engines are too large for the frame and placed too far forward to gain proper ground clearance. This was done to improve fuel economy and to leverage a decades old and paid for airframe vs. developing a new one. Boeing built in additional software to help manage the plane's attitude but it relied on critical data from an instrument (airspeed indicator) that could malfunction and did not have a backup. Boeing told airlines that pilots did not have to trained on the new software as a cost savings measure and many bought into this. So the instrument failed, the software kicked in and then overroad pilot input, pilots did not know that feature could be turned off and 2 planes crashed as a result of this.

The above is a layman's interpretation of what happened. There is probably a backup pitot tube now, everyone has been trained, but IMO the plane is still inherently unstable. If I had a choice I wouldn't fly in one.

My brother makes less and spends much more than me. The four door ram was too tight for his family of four so he "needed" a bigger truck and justified the $70K as he will keep it forever and it will be his sons first vehicle in 13 years. smh.
It’s funny what we can justify to ourselves as ‘needs’ if we try hard enough.

I WANT a Model3 but I can afford a Volt…

Last year I gave up seeking a used Japanese PU so ordered a new 6 sp Tacoma. It still took 6 months to get it.
Are the Tacomas really that much better than everything else out there? Or is it all hype and brand loyalty?

My buddy had a Tundra and loved it. It died at close to 500k and he bought an F150. Couldn’t believe how much better overall it was…for close to 20k cheaper.

They don't make them any more but you could fit a bike in a honda element

Better in terms of reliability, low cost of ownership and resale value. They perform well off-road too, but like Adventure Bikes, not many venture off the tarmac.

I've owned nothing but German autos pretty much my whole life and I was floored that the running costs for the Tacoma are a quarter of my previous bills. "Of", not "Off"...

Only drawback is that they are not much cheaper than a full-size, and the fuel mileage is about the same as well. So unless you value the smaller size for maneuverability, a full-size is probably the better bang for purchasing buck. Also the Tacos have an outdated transmission. While everyone else has a million-speed auto, the Taco still has a six speed auto that hunts for gears if you're not confident with the accelerator pedal.

I bought one to haul motos primarily, and they do quite well doing just that:

How are you getting them in? I could see powering them up a ramp but you would need a second ramp to walk up.
I power them up a single ramp onto my tailer but it's low enough I can step up as I power it up.
