SIU investigation

Except the penalties under the stunt driving law are instant and incontestable.
This.

SOME people were running before, guaranteed more do it now thanks to that :( Guilty with no chance to be proven innocent :(

Easy fix for that - don't drive like a manic, and you shouldn't have a problem.
Remember that cop that wrote up 31 bogus stunt driving charges, because he was getting a kickback from the tow truck driver?? lol. You don't have to be doing something stupid for it to cost you thousands and thousands!

It would take me waaay to long to post the list of 2 wheel crashes due to excessive speed.... I'm not a fan of the law but you have waaay to many people ending up like this poor soul for what... have his bike taken away....seems like a small price to pay in hindsight.,

Well you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. The law is so messed up that if you decide to pull over you're guilty of the charge, if you decide to run well there really isn't going back it's all or nothing at that point because if you get caught forget about the stunting charge now you got criminal charges on your *** too. Now it's easy to say just do the speed limit but reality is owning these machines we're going over the limit most of the time without even realising it. Now I don't agree going ballistic on a residential area but how the heck are you guilty on the spot without trial? Ridiculous law.

Jul, you hit it spot on, there are places that there are virtually no cops, we know where they are but we have to venture there, to open it up on populated, GTA areas just mean you are askin for it, my point is pull over and take your lumps better than a coffin....enough said on this. - FYI i agree that the law is **** cause it give the cops to much power, but i also agree there are a lot of Dbags out there.

just cleaning up the gene pool, wont be the last this year.

you don't have any facts but you'll come out and say that about someone who just lost their life? :?

I live in the area. Yes it's residential but only south of Major Mac. There are no sidewalks on the north side and barely any pedestrians on the sidewalks on the south side, if there are sidewalks at all.

Have you been up there? It's a damn open flat straight line with houses on the right and farm lands on the left. This guy probably rammed into a SUV trying to run a red. Also I believe there have been instances where the "stunting/racing" law has been applied to ppl going under 50 -_- stupid law is stupid regardless

wow comon now. This is the worst mentality to have as a rider. With all the evidence that the rider was running from the cops and obviously riding stupid you still find some ******** excuse to blame the SUV. This is whats wrong with a lot of immature riders! They always think they're right no matter how stupid of an action they are doing. Learn to take responsibility for your actions instead of blaming SUVs or stupid laws! the guy was running! he could of killed someone in the SUV, but you dont care cause the rider is always right no matter how stupid he is. Im sorry for this rant but im so sick of seeing ****** bag drivers yelling and blaming other ppl when they are totally in the wrong.

Uh I think he meant the rider was maybe trying to run the red..

Please tell us where these places are and when?
Unless you booting it to Thunderbay every weekend I got to hear this.

This should be considered amongst post of the year if there is such a thing here.

I would love to see this guy say that to a friend or family member of the fallen rider.
I would pay to see that.

The people that say, oh you have nothing to worry about if you are not doing anything wrong.
Good thing DNA testing came about to stop the murder of the innocent not to forget all the innocent ppl that died due to a lack of testing.
Cops are ppl too, they make mistakes. A rider on a black bike with black gear, can you tell them apart at night or 200 meters back. One just did a wheely 1 km back, you now caught up to "them". Which is the offender? You got a 50/50 shot as the cop and as the innocent rider you were at 100% but now you got a 50/50 shot.

Rarely ppl think they will be the the other 50% until it happens to you.

Dude i hate the law as much as you, but the posted limit is what it is, i know sometimes it doesn't seems fair that limit is 70 but most poeple respect it more when there in a cage and not on 2, myself included, i'm just saying there are better places to grab a handful of throttle.
You are contradicting yourself, in one hand you are saying that the speed limit is what it is and everyone should obey it "but the posted limit is what it is"

Then you say "there are better places to grab a handful of throttle" , on a sports bike grabbing a handful of throttle means you are above the speed limit no matter what, even on the 401.

So the speed limit is what it is depending on where you are?

I drove by that place today, trust me to most people 70 in there is ridiculously slow, 120 in there no problem - So you go over it and then see the radar, think to yourself, I am F'cked and gun it.. rest is history

Why do you think cops park themselves in there?

Just ****** bag tactics all the way - and this and many other reasons is why I hate those bastards

FYI, people were running from cops waaaaaay before the stunting law, check out the fines for dangerous or careless, not much better.
Most riders that ran from cops before did it mostly because they knew they could, these days any hot shot nob that thinks they can ride will take the risk because of the serious consequences if they don't.

Ummm, what?

Gene pool comment? +1

Actually the rider probably wouldn't have died if he didnt ride into another vehicle.

Whatever happened to taking responsibility for your own actions...

He did, he's dead. What other responsibility can you take when you're DEAD. I would prefer to discourage running in the future by knocking down that retarded law which should have never passed.

A lot of us used to do 160 on hwy 401 during off-peak times with an empty road. Now doing 160 will result in more penalties than the jackass left turners who kill and or maim riders during summer. I'm fine with taking responsibilities for my own actions but the fact is the stunting/racing law strips your rights the second the cherries go off. That is ********. Our rights are important and they are NOT automatically stripped until proven guilty.

I meant the RIDER RAN THE RED and is likely dead. Though with the amount of left turn red runners the SUV running the red wouldn't be surprising <_<

And again, rider has paid the price, he is dead. I respect the rider enough, without knowing him, to think that it might have been due to the law we all hate. I still do not understand how it was passed.

It was passed with the support of a guy that killed a cyclist and had zero punishment, not even a simple traffic ticket.

I have a slight recollection of that history, along with the law passing due to "road racing" killing someone...but the actual reason involved alcohol, not solely speed. Was it a stealth law or something? Last year when the US tried to censor the internet the whole world went up in arms, yet when they try to take our road side rights away we didn't do ****? fyi I was too young to know anything back then :p
