Single Rider Motorcycles are now allowed in Ontario HOV lanes

The signage on the 403 isn't consistent - some signs have bikes, some don't.

I got some honks and some fingers for riding the other day...

The HOV lanes as scary AF sometimes, remember when the Pan-AM games where here and the DVP had a dedicated lane all the way down, rode that slowly...
Any HOV riding, I want a cager in front...

It is consistent in that it is not on every sign. Just like how green vehicles are not on every sign.
I’ve been riding the HOV lanes ever since the rule changed and love it.

Im always paranoid some impatient douche bag is going to cut me off

Yep, far left edge of the lane and expect it. Normally the proper blocking position would be the right edge of the lane when you're out there, but yeah, F that - people are idiots, and anytime there's a big speed differential between the lane you're travelling in and the other one....you need to give yourself an out.

Push for lane filtering. and and free access to the 407!

407 Premium

those that can afford to, upgrade to go faster
can't we have 2 levels of service for public roads too?

give speeding tickets to the poor people
like a baggage charge for those in coach

I thought you guys were talking about riding in the HOV lane mixed in the with cars. I didn't realize that the solid lines separated by slashes were a dedicated hi-speed motorcycle lane. It was pretty obvious from the number of SS bikes using that lane on the 403 tonight, that was their interpretation of the law.

(The above is obviously sarcasm based on reality)

I know on the 410 they've got that same sign only at a few locations whereby all of the other locations have just the 2-person sign. They need to make ALL the signs show EVERYTHING.

Been riding the HOV lanes since they opened them up to bikes. You will generally be aware of who's gonna jump into the HOV lane improperly by their previous actions.

The left tire tread advice is something I would re-think. If speed of traffic is relatively similiar, there is zero chance that race car driver is going to see you. The drivers who cross the double whites to gain a second or two aren't the same ones that can't drive in a straight line or are on their phones. If anything, they are hyper-aware of their surroundings as they are trying to win the Indy4xx. If they can't see you, they'll assume its clear and that its another 1 second saved on their commute, do not cross lines don't apply to them.

The ones who drift in lanes are not specific to HOV lanes and no special highway riding strategies are needed.

If one lane is free and clear and other lanes are at a standstill, be careful of a car making a sudden lane change. HOV/not HOV/city street this is basic knowledge and experience.

They've apparently removed motorcycles from certain municipal ones..by remove they seemed to have taped over the motorcycle with some translucent tape. So when you look at the sign the motorcycle image is still there but just less obvious. I just pretend to not notice the difference.

I thought the same thing ... if anything stay in the middle where you're more likely to be seen but still have an extra foot or so of space on the right.

Why would they do that? Did the by-law change? Maybe a prank from someone?

rider fatality in the HOV lane a couple years ago before it was legal. Yes they shouldn't have been there, but it was exactly as described by a couple of you, cars moving slowly can't resist jumping the double white and computed motorcycle = gap.
I also get super nervous when the HOV is moving much faster than the rest. I would rather be stopped quite frankly than be in that situation.
lol as for lane filtering, those of us without massive fairings and saddle bags who can actually fit between lanes will be murdered by Audi and BMW drivers who must arrive first at all costs. . .

You just have to get good at Supermans and the 407 is completely free.
