Simoncelli. MotoGP. DEAD!!!

One of my favourite GP riders. We was awesome in his winning season in 250. He showed a lot of speed in MotoGP and would have been around for a long time.

This is just terrible :(


I see he was starting into a lowside, but did not come off. Was he trying to save it, or did the bike veer into that direction due to other circumstances before he let go?
 
rip to most talent rider in future, he's aggressive but we need his style in game, come on, he just get on podium, he will get a win very soon...............

Just saw this as well. The helmet was lifted off his head and landed near Colin Edwards' bike.

R.I.P. Marco had character and passion for the sport. This is really sad news.
 
I believe all GP riders will tie his/her helmets of course (at this class, top of the world, won't "forget" I guess), then why it's off at crash??????
the strap broken? not that easy I think, how? AGV? could save his life if it's on!
 
A severe enough impact can cause ANYthing to break. This is tragic news. RIP Marco.
 
Oh NO! How horrible. First Dan Wheldon now Simoncelli. I'm shocked to read this. - BTW vid taken down - might be hard to see the crash now. It's not often they ever replay that stuff, and it certainly sounds like it was awful. RIP.
 
JEEZ! This hasn't been a good year for motorsports deaths.

RIP. He was a great rider who I'm sure everyone will truly miss watching.
 
AGV is going to have some explaining to do. With his armor, he should have survived the blow to the back from Edward's front wheel. Albeit with many broken bones/internal injuries. With his helmet lifted off, he had no chance of survival. Time of death shows 14:56 local time, race started at 14:00, and was about six minutes in. If the force was that great to rip his helmet off (break the strap), it should have broken his neck, which would have resulted in instant death. That's not the case, as he held on for 50 minutes. Helmets at this level of racing should never fly off. And if they do, as gruesome as this sounds, they had better contain a head.
