Here are some points to consider:

1. Impose a licensing fee for cyclists and ebike riders. Why are these people on our roads with NO basic training for the rules of the roads. How are cyclists supposed to know the rules of the roads when they have not passed the basic written test?

2. Who pays for the damages if a cyclist plows into your car and damages it?

3. Why are skateboarders and rollerbladers allowed to use said roads?

4. Why do you have to wear a seatbelt even if you are moving at 10 km/h yet a cyclists moving along at 10+ km/h on the same road as you has no mandatory safety requirement such as a basic helmet placed upon them?

5. Why does my car have to have headlights and tail lights but a bicycle on the same dark road does not?

I see a group of people using the roads without any training or knowledge of the official regulations. They also do not have for the most part any responsibility should they damage your car. It is the auto drivers that pays for the roads via license fees and gas fees. We spend money taking away space from auto drivers to give to cyclists yet they bare no costs and have next to zero responsibility. They need to be a part of the ownership for using public roads.

Why are pedestrians given a false sense of safety by shifting the entire burden of road safety to the auto driver? Pedestrians need to be held accountable and be a part of proper road sharing. The end result of a car hitting me tends to make me the loser in that scenario therefore I take it upon myself to ensure that even if I have the right away I still look around and ensure the path is safe to proceed. There is an old saying, you can be right but you might be dead at the same time.

Disclaimer: I am not against cyclists or pedestrians I am both as well. It seems that we have tossed them onto the roadways and hoped they figure it out yet the rest of us road users have to abide by another set of rules and pay for the privilege to use the roads.

Wrong.

We spend money taking away space from auto drivers to give to cyclists.

Actually, the bicycles were here first. You should be thankful they let you adapt their original right of ways to accommodate your cars.

More useless government bureaucracy and cash grabs?

No.

You made an account just to post this ?

I somewhat agree with the OPs erronious post but it's about as likely to happen as Americans giving up guns.

What's the point of creating a poll if you're gonna skew the answers towards what you want to hear?

you have got to be kidding. now are we going to start issuing licences to 5 year old learning to ride. or lets say a learners permit to only operate a bicycle on private property. now we have cops enforcing stupid rules to keep to make sure cyclists have licences. I don't see the logic.

Lets buy a 40 dollar bike off Kijiji. oh wait i cant ride it unless i pay for a licence which costs 60.

I missed the signup part outlining your requirements for posting.

Trolling is serious business..accounts must be created..lists must be made...
I am new here so just to clarify if someone new posts something that you don't agree with they are "trolling".
I actually replied in an other thread which gave me the idea to ask a broader question.
Thanks for the welcome.

Since when did the MTO start issuing drivers licenses to 5 year olds?

Your statement seems to be contradictory. I would not have created a poll if I did not want people to provide their input.
I would like YOUR response to question #2.
Thanks

Wrong.

Actually, the horse and buggy was here first but I don't see them on the 401 or along Yonge street either.
Last I checked my gas taxes and other taxes pay for the roads that I drive on, and are also paying for the TTC that I do not use which is okay by me because the TTC has insurance should their bus run into my car.

Which proves to me you never checked at all. The taxes go into general coffers. Or do you actually think money collected through taxes on fuel or licenses and registrations is set aside in a box marked "Road Infrastructure and Maintenance"?

I vote troll.

I call BS. You have one post in the intro thread and six posts in this thread, including the initial one sided poll post. You never replied in any other threads, be they about cyclists or not.

It's retarded ideas like this that are making it increasingly expensive to live in Canada.

They have presentations by police officers in the schools about cycling safety and the like. How hard would it be to have a little two week course or something in grade 8 or 9 specifically geared towards wheeled vehicles and the road?

Yeah I think licensing is a tad too far, and yes enforcement needs to step up big time. However, we already have all these kids in class anyway, what's another little course.

He's talking about your bright idea to license everyone on a bike. Please try and keep up.

Look up "Somewhat", "Erroneous" and "Sarcasm" in a dictionary.
