Shopping list for 2013 track season

Why? For a simple mechanical tool, it either does the job or doesn't.
I think the why will become apparent once you do your first chain replacement. I used to think like you do until I changed a chain with the cheapo one and later on with a good tool.

As someone that already made the mistake you are about to make, I figure I would give you some advice.

I was strictly talking quality of the tool in regards to longevity and versatility.

The topic about buying local vs South of the boarder is a topic I am not getting involved with.

I've been trying to find anyone local that can match this deal: http://www.superbikesupply.com/mm5/...20-yamaha&Category_Code=520-conversion-yamaha

-EK MXVZ 520 chain
-Drive Systems USA Superlite steel rear sprocket
-Driven drilled steel front sprocket.

$194 delivered including all taxes, handling fee's, etc. (using that new UPS "all in" service)

If I dun find anyone in the next day or so I'm ordering south :)

These are the exact things I bought from the motomummy, $223 all in.
Great price :) I guess if you couldn't find it local for under $223 no way I'm going to find it for $195.

*Ordered* from superbike supply :(

More annoying things at work have taken over my mind, so yea, i'm mad, just not at you, you dodged this one ;)
GTAM is serious business

Another small purchase today: chain master link riveting tool. Haven't seen these before, saw it cheap so decided to give them a try. Check it out here, looks promising.

That looks to me like it is for riveting only. Unless you are getting a chain with exactly the right number of links out of the box, you are also going to need a tool to cut the new chain (i.e., push out one of the pins). I can't see how that tool will do that. I also use the chain cutting tool to remove the old chain (I have the Motion Pro one). That's not 100% required though because you can always cut the old chain off by taking a dremel or whatever to one of the links.

If you only need it for riveting, I am betting it will work fine. All you are doing is flaring the master link pins - it is hardly rocket science. Just need to be careful not to overdo it and create a tight spot.

Let us know how it goes.

I figured a dremel could do all the cutting/shortening/breaking needs I might have, so yea---just for riveting. I'll post later when I get it and get to do a chain replacement, hopefully I won't report it's a POS.

Hell, I've bought tires online for half what the local guy could buy them from Parts Canada. I told him he's crazy to be buying that from PC if that is how they do business...
This is part of the reason kevin and parts canada parted ways

Everyone, just buy where you want to buy. Done.
Back on topic, I ordered a steering damper mount.
