Shopping list for 2013 track season

Who distributes and services Penske in this area?

Penske has a dealer in Niagara on the Lake - too lazy to look it up, but check the Penske site. They serviced my shock last spring and did a great job with a quick turnaround.

If I were buying a new shock now, and they made one for my bike (they don't), I would go with Elka. Never heard anything but good about them, and they are Canadaian. No-brainer.

Ok purchased so far:

1. New Clip On
2. Woodcraft frame sliders
3. Woodcraft spools
4. New skid pad cover for stator (woodcraft)
5. New DID 520 gold chain, black driven +ca sprockets and new gearing
6. Elka 3 way adjustable shock

Next to come over winter:
1. Ohlins springs
2. New Tires
3. Redo bodywork

Wish List:
1. Tire warmers
2. Generator
3. Rearsets
4. ASV Levers
5. New keyless gas cap

and uh Im broke so thats all for now LOL

Jenn

That is one tricked out street bike!

I need a new set of warmers that can fit over 200 slicks... I will be selling my 120/180/90'ish set soon.

Going to upgrade the front forks (bone stock) this winter and re-spring/fresh my Elka

NOTE about the Elka shocks. The new Stage 4 shock has new style valving BUT anything from last year is susceptible to dirt getting behind the O-rings. Take care of your shocks and clean them regularly... (not just Elka but any shock) mine wasn't too clean, dirt got behind the compression adjuster when I moved it and resulted in a leaky shock.

Keyless gas caps are meh. My stock one can open 10X faster than you can spin yours on/off :p - I only have a spare in case this one goes.

I bit the bullet this afternoon and ordered the elka shock and 20 mm piston kit for the forks.

What are your guys' thoughts on the Elka Stage 3 shock?
How badly is a remote preload adjuster needed?
Apparently, they're tough to adjust once installed on the CBR's?

Damnit Duck! I thought the same thing! You havnt seen the 40' motorhome yet, its not worth it to bring out for just a track day (saving that for soar weekends).

toy hauler
adjustable rearsets
more track days / race weekends!
actually finish my cbr929 and get it on the track

My Elka is a P.I.A. to adjust when it's on my R6. Preload and Compression isn't an issue at all on my bike.

The rebound and ride height are pretty much under the swingarm... My hand/sleeve get dirty whenever I reach under there. But that's the case for pretty much any current generation R6 shock because of the way the design is. Same Kawi shock has everything in plain view... you don't even need to remove the tank to get it installed/removed. I have to strip the R6 each time, but that's just the chassis design.

Let me change your shopping priority a bit, just cause I like you

No, I'm not that handy...
I'll probably drop off the bike at John's sometime in the spring to have it installed and get the forks done as well.

I lucked out big time getting the shock for that price, thanks to Omnivore for the awesome find!!

Elka & Penske are both good choices, can't go wrong either way. I'm sure you'll be happy. I went with a Penske triple-clicker and haven't looked back.

This winter my wish list is short, probably just buying more trackdays at the show!
