Selling Stuff

i sell a lot of stuff on kijiji. it does help to supplement my income, plus i enjoy it.
i hate it when people come to pick something up for say, $45, then show up with only 40 b/c atms dont give out 5's. i always tell people on kijiji that i require exact change. this has really helped to weed out timewasters.

i had a guy show up late at night to yell at me b/c his dumbass wife came to buy their sons b-day gift, but tried to negotiate a better price at the door, so i refused to sell it to her. i said i'd only sell it at full price, not at the negotiated price

My favorite are those who try to negotiate prices AFTER you've installed something they wanted to purchase because they were unable to do it themselves.

I sold a set of tires to someone from this site a couple of seasons ago, offered to install them and when I finished the install, he tried to tell me he was only willing to pay a price that was $80 less than the price of the tires alone.

he was quite upset when I drilled holes in the sidewalls of both tires.

lmao Picture a short and stocky litle guy....

The latest one ive seen popping up is .." could you come and drop it off at my place which is an hour away?"
And ill only give you xxx amount of dollars lower than what your asking, because as we all know it .. gas is free.

Oh ya. Selling a patio set for a ridiculously low price simply because I wanted it gone. First the woman wanted me to deliver it. I said no. Then she said she couldn't afford the $50 asking price because she would have to borrow a van and drive an hour to come and get it, gas would be $30, and would I take $20. Um...no. For $20 I'd rather destroy it.

Ive been trying to sell furniture out of my storage unit, because kijiji buyers are so shady, and I have to drive an hour to get to my unit, I set up 3 buyers on the same day...I got there and none of the 3 showed up or called..WTF....

If I say Im doing something I do it, If I say Im buying I do it!......Peoples words just dont mean the same anymore.....

It can go both ways. I have had people agree to sell me something on the phone only to have it sold after I rented the van and showed up at their home at the time I was supposed to. "Well someone came by yesterday, hour ago, etc..." Also had people try to raise the price on pick-up because someone called later and offered them more! I have had people tell me that it is sold but if I come by today they will sell it to me instead (I tell them to pound salt--sort of the opposite of my first point).

For trying to sell a vehicle I always recommend have set times to come look at it and being clear that these times are not private. "I am letting people check it out Saturday between 10 AM and Noon as a group." Not a minuted before or after. You can have a buddy be around to help offset any low ballers (make fake counter offers or have them talk up items) or thieves... Odds are 10 people looking at it at the same time will motivate an offer without a lot of BS, assuming the asking price is fair.

i try to make my ads very descriptive, tons of detail and pictures and make it clear, no trades, cash only, pretty firm on price, no delivery, local buyer only, no shipping etc... that has helped me weed out a lot of the low balla's and sketchy folks

Ever try spelling Mississauga to someone who could barely speak English?

Ever get a call from someone who has what you're selling and wants to know how to adjust it because he's lost his manual?

Weird...

I have bought and sold many things on kijiji...only even had positive experiences, except for one time when i was selling a camera lens.

Guy asked me to deliver it to him (across town) because he doesn't drive. We meet up in a parking lot and he shows up in his car. Then offers me $40 less than what I'm asking ($60) saying he can get it for that price on ebay.

My response: That's a good deal, you should buy it on ebay. Email's me later that night saying he was wrong about the one he could get on ebay, and that the lens is actually worth $60, and would I consider $50.

My 2nd response: I've wasted enough time with you, forget it.

Of course he called once more at 11pm when my son was fast asleep to try and get it again.....I think he got a clear message after that.
