Selling Stuff

I'm sure we all have some crazy stories about asshats from Kijiji, etc. I expect it out of Kijiji.

Lately though it seems to be getting worse.....and not from Kijiji but from GTAM members.

Make a time to meet up with someone to sell them a jacket. They were more than 45 minutes late...but texted to say they were on their way so I foolishly waited.

Or how about the person that says they want to come and see your bike on a certain day....but makes no effort to confirm, etc.

I must be a seller's dream because I show up on time, and have cash in hand.

I'm done selling stuff. its even a pain in the *** to give stuff away for free.

last weekend, emailing back and forth about I exhaust I have. price is set, I'll install for free, set a time for saturday at 2:00pm. I wait around, get an email at 2:15 saying they don't want it anymore and found it cheaper somewhere else.

No show, No call, New price for them

I could probably tie in some stories of "lowball offers" too. Like the guy who said he was on a limited income from social assistance and couldn't afford the $200 bicycle I was selling.....and offered me $25.

I'm sure we all have ******* Kijiji/Craigslist stories. I can think of more than one occasion where someone agrees to come to my house to see the product and then lowballs me with cash, thinking that I'm desperate or something ("but it's CASH, lady!").

My favorite are those who try to negotiate prices AFTER you've installed something they wanted to purchase because they were unable to do it themselves.

I sold a set of tires to someone from this site a couple of seasons ago, offered to install them and when I finished the install, he tried to tell me he was only willing to pay a price that was $80 less than the price of the tires alone.

he was quite upset when I drilled holes in the sidewalls of both tires.

Participating in the Buy-n-sell game can be straight up annoying. So many time wasters out there.

Its so bad that when somebody just does what they say they are going to do - shows up at agreed time with agreed on $ amount I am surprised!! Im at the point that when that happens, I will usually give them a discount or free stuff just for being straight up with me.

I would not want to see you in a divorce!

but this made me LOL as I can picture you doing it.

That's what's great about the internet. It connects you with millions more potential buyers than the "old" way of selling things. Unfortunately, the number of actual buyers has remained pretty much the same.

The latest one ive seen popping up is .." could you come and drop it off at my place which is an hour away?"
And ill only give you xxx amount of dollars lower than what your asking, because as we all know it .. gas is free.

I've got a lady who every time she sees my bike she points to stuff and goes "how much", like its a parts bike. When I tell her I'm not selling she points to another part. Then goes on to brag about how shes on a limited income... then brags about all the money shes spent on her bike....

When i had a few odds and ends left from my 10R after parting it out I offered them up for free on the 10R.net. I ended up throwing some of the stuff out because people didn't even want to pay for shipping.

Idiots.
