But, seriously. I'm too busy riding my motorcycle to be complaining about its insurance. I'll think about it during the winter.
 
Buy a 3/4 ton truck and plow and put commercial insurance on it and come back here...then we'll have something to ***** about. I pay $8000/yr for 5 months work and never made a claim in 9yrs in business. That aside i pay $1900/yr for my R1 and I hear ya its terrible. It's the only legal scam going.

The problem is we have plenty of retards like johnnie_c happily taking it up the @ss from insurance companies instead of being fed up with ridiculous & unaffordable rates.

almost 1900 a year for liability and fire and theft here for a gixxer 1000. its through state farm and i live in niagara, it would go down 600 a year if i brought both of my vehicles over but the total cost would still be 120 a month more in the end because state farm cant touch my car rates and they want 200 a year more to insure my house. so for my bike insurance to drop to 1300 a year id have to spend 320 more on than im currently paying for everything now. face it, bikes are a luxury item, theyre a want not a need, we ride because we want to not because we need to, so being a luxury item we pay extra for it. plus its such an easy item to steal that we get dinged even more

just saying how its perceived and im against it, i wish my rates were cheaper as we all do. but thats just how they see it and charge more for it. it works the same in all aspects of life.
 
Paying $900/yr for insurance and your crying, OP? seriously? $900 a year... i'd be happy to pay that for my bike. Get a grip and stop crying.
 
Sure, insurance is a ****ton. Don't like it? Move out of Ontario.

Not all of Canada is like this, I believe Ontario is the 2nd worse province for insurance in Canada.
There are just so many rich people, or kid with rich parents, or just people willing to pay their prices that they're making optimal profit at their high prices.

Think about it, cutting the price in half so they can get 1/10 more people insured with them would be a stupid business move.

also what mikbusa said: a lot of insurance fraud, and it cost a crapton for physio.

sidenote: I'm paying $3800 for my first year. Clean record. Only have a G1M2 though. If you really want to ride, you'll find a way. Whether it be finding a way to pay for insurance, or riding uninsured and taking the risk.

I can’t speak for others but I myself have complained to Financial Services Ontario as well as my M.P.P. over and over again. As you can imagine I have had little effect to date.

However, I did win a moral victory over Riders Plus after registering a formal complaint with the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario. It took many months but in the end Riders Plus had to change their advertisements, website, all printed material as well as to ensure their staff did not misinform the public. They were required to clearly identify that (at the time) they only represented one company. Also, that they did NOT cater to all motorcyclists and specify which segments, ages and motorcycle types they would not insure.
Furthermore, they had to retrain all their staff and were required to show proof that all staff had successfully completed said training.
