Scooter hate

no shifting = no respect.

j/k, I love scooters!

I don't hate scooters, just the people who ride them.

I hate how androgynous some scooter riders are...lookin all sexy and what-not until you find out it's an indian dood wearing a man-purse. GAHHHH!!! So. Much. Hate.

I love scooters, because downtown they usually are being drivin by hot chicks, being on a much more powerful bike, if theres a scooter chick along my route, i just follow them and make them feel like they are on a fast scooter and im getting left behind, and then i pull up beside them at the light and just smile. It's so much fun, when they try to get away fast and you play along and pretend she smoked you.lol Then when she gets cocky, you rip it and leave her and her petite scooter 10 blocks behind.lol

Scooters are for chicks.

I like this guy....sarcastic / patronizing flirting so hip right now!

That's how I want to meet my next wife.

That and I am worried about their lack of loud pipes.

My scooter pipe (aftermarket) was so loud, i had to quieten it down substantially with some internal modding. It generated a heckuva lot of noise, coming from only 70cc, that's for darn sure.

I've got two of these Honda Passports. I first started out riding on an ancestor of these in the mid 80's for a year or so, before moving up. I owned that first bike/scooter for quite a few years after i regularly used it, and regretted selling it immediately after. These things pretty much define 'scooter', at 60,000,000+ variations having been produced since '58.

The 'go big or go home' mentality of North Americans, is what has kept scooters from really going mainstream here - both historically, and into the present day. It's sad that people miss out on trying, and enjoying, a very viable and economic method of transportation, with such a shallow mind-set.

Somehow with age, experience, and maturity, the attitude of "don't get caught being seen riding either one" really doesn't hold much weight or relevance to me anymore. I've enjoyed the ride just as much on the scooter, as on the large sidecar rig (those don't get respect either, apparently) or for that matter, any of the other motorcycles that i've owned in the past. I'm confident in my own sexual orientation and self-image and I don't get all bent out of shape or hung up on what other people would think of me, or of my ride at that moment in time.

Just ride your own ride, and be happy doing it. I am. Screw the haters, they just don't know what they are missing.

Ok, I changed my mind this morning, there's a lot more arrogant scooter riders out there than I thought.

i bought a new scooter. a vespa 150. i love it so far. can fit all kinds of things under the seat... i use it to commute to work and any other small errands around town. it's fun to ride, not to mention cheap as heck on gas and insurance.

to be honest, any short distances, i'd much rather take the scooter as opposed to my sport bike. i feel like all i have to do is throw on a half-helmet and go. plus i don't sweat like a pig on it as i do with my 1198. u haven't felt pain until u've been stuck in traffic with an 1198 and a full exhaust.

lots of people seem to have this high and mighty attitude just because they ride a sports bike. it's such a shame... i love all things on 2 wheels, including my bicycles. maybe people buy sport bikes for the image instead of what they should be, which is fun to ride.... then again, maybe that's why u usually see tim horton parking lots full of posing sport bike riders instead of scooters.

could care less what other's think of my scooter.

just my opinion.

Agreed...until you've owned both you just can't appreciate the fun and accessibility of a scooter. When I had my 650R and BWS50 at the same time, the Ninja was getting taken less and less for quick trips anywhere.

I also had more requests to 2up on my scoot. It was more comfortable for the passenger.

Man, I so want to buy a scooter :(

At LL last night was a little tricked out scooter crew. Badazz! And some rider swaggered in on his aprilia sport scoot....which I aaaaalways wanted but never got the chance. It's about confidence not ccs.

I chased the macho dream of the big bad 1L....time to chase the dream of the peppy smart scoot scoot.

Scooters are great. If I lived and worked downtown, I'd definately have one. Very practical and more fun than a car.

Ya I bought one for that reason. No point having a fast bike when you can only get up to 50km/h max. Might as well save some cash and sure as hell beats the TTC.

Another upside to scooters, you can get away with breaking traffic laws, drive bys, transporting drugs, robberies, arson, etc...

no one ever suspects the guy on the scooter. ;)
