Scooter hate

Haters gonna hate.

I rode scooters in Europe and they were fun! You could wring them out and not get into any trouble as opposed to our big bad *** bikes.

i don't mind them... as long as they don't make eye-contact.

Scooters can be a blast. I tried out a buddies in highschool, he was part of the "Mod" culture and a had a fairly modified vespa.

i would have one if I didn't need to ride the highway

I got to know. Does everyone on this forum (well not EVERYBODY) seems to pick on scoots.is it just for fun or does everyone really hate them? If so why? I've got to ride a few, small to large and for city commuting they are fantastic. Sorry for my ignorance but I got to know.

I looooove scooters! I had the chance to rent one in Egypt when I was 18 and rented another in Rome for a week, and had a couple loners in London. OMG it was fun. When the congestion cripples motorbikes (and yes it can get that bad), the scooter is king!

Many a time in London traffic I have been cut up by more nimble scooters who can filter in tighter spots and can "cross filter" to find better filtering lines, where I would get stuck on a 1L.

I'm trying to get my wife one now....but really I'll be all over it!

I wave to them, but many of them don't know of the 2 wheeled code because they either picked up their scoot from some hipster (don't have a clue) shop, or only got into riding cause they have a condo downtown and can't sport a cage anymore...there isn't the same passion for riding that got them started. That being said, I started riding for the same reason and I grew into a proper rider with time.

PS gotta love pulling up to a scooter lady in a flowery dress, big ol' shades and get that smile acknowledging our mutual new wave bad-assness at the front of the intersection.

Who is capable of hating on Scooty Puff Jr.?!?!?

No hating them with me..I think they are fine.. I even wave at them!!

I only don't wave to people using Tapatalk on Nexus One.

Scooty Puff Sr. The Doom Bringer. That's who!

Well when a grander mission (highway driving) calls for it, Scooty Puff Sr. certainly has his place. But as long as your Scooty Puff doesn't fall apart while winding it, I think you're fine.

PS. no past-nastification!

Scooter crashes just seem funnier to me.

I think scooters are awesome.

That's what got me into bikes. I wanted a cheap practical mode of transportation for downtown, so i bought a scooter. Then caugh the bug and got a bike.

I still have my scooter. I live and work downtown and my scooter is way more practical then my bike for getting around the city. I never have to look for parking, i just park on the sidewalk where ever i want. I filter through traffic. I can get $100 worth of groceries on it. I can jump curbs. More comfortable to ride with my wife on the back then my bike.

Now of course, If i'm not running errands and looking to get out of the core, my bike is king.

I think they're both great, and they both serve different purposes for me, and serve them well.

Poor guy....he must be the only scoot rider who went down, lighting up the rear!!!! and then he almost passed out from shock and flipped himself over the railing!!!!

I definitely don't hate on scooters. I wave, they don't wave back, no dramas.

My one concern is that scooter riders seem to not wear gear a lot, not even gloves. Hitting something at 60km/h I would image feels the same on a sport bike, cruiser or scooter.

In fact, scoots are probably the most practical motorized to wheel vehicle over all..

When you see the first one who tries to answer their cell phone while pulling away from a red light...consequently nearly running it into a curb from the left hand lane of a 2 lane road? That's how the hate starts. It just grows from there.

That and I am worried about their lack of loud pipes.

Just like on motorcycles and cars, there are knobs that ride scooters too.

The funny thing about scooter riders is they don't wave at anyone.. It's not their culture to do so.. I've seen two chicks pull up near each other downtown and they both try not to make eye contact with the other rider while having that "you *****" look on their face. Ha ha!

Of you're lucky you get to witness some upskirt action too.

Yorkville's good for this :)

now that there are e-bikes, I can love scooters. Plus e-bikes make scooters cool, kind of like Twighlight fans do for Trekkies.

LOL When I was there late May, those kids were popping wheelies on their scooters all over downtown London.

See all the push bike wheelies too?!?! Those kids hold them for 2 or 3 blocks!!!!

They start on bikes, then scooters, by the time they are wheelieing motorbikes, they got 10 years under their belt!!!

BTW scooters wheelie soooooooo easy....minor throttle twist, lean back and bam you're up! at 10kph toooo!
